Ross Fire at 57% containment in InciWeb's Sept. 6 and Sept. 7 updates; Parker County stays under a burn ban, one of 207 counties
InciWeb's daily update dated Sept. 7 lists the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County at an estimated 90,400 acres and 57% containment, the same figures as the Sept. 6 update; the Sept. 5 update listed 38%. The update gives a start date of August 24, 2026, a cause of equipment use, under investigation, no road closures or evacuations, and an initial structure assessment of 167 structures destroyed, including 18 occupied residences, 95 damaged and 453 saved; the incident page shows an estimated containment date of 09/08/2026. The Texas A&M Forest Service's county list, stamped 9/6/2026 1:18:52 PM, carries 207 counties under a burn ban, Parker among them along with Tarrant, Hood, Palo Pinto, Wise, Johnson, Jack, Erath, Somervell and Denton.
Where it stands: 90,400 acres in Palo Pinto and Jack counties, 44% contained as of Sept. 5 per InciWeb, with an estimated containment date of Sept. 8; human-caused per the Forest Service. Parker County remains under a burn ban.
