Editorial policy
The Aledo Ledger is owned and published by Weaver Media Group; its publisher, Christopher Weaver, is responsible for what it publishes. The full rules, by kind of content, are on the standards page. In short:
Sourcing
Every factual claim links to its source. If the record is silent, the entry says so. Projections are labeled as projections and estimates as estimates.
How entries are made
Entries marked "compiled from public records" are assembled automatically from the government feeds listed in the data archive and checked by an editor before publication. No quotation is ever made up or generated: every quotation is taken from a document or recording we can point to.
Sponsors and money
Sponsors are labeled. They never see an entry before it runs and never decide what runs. How the Ledger is paid for is on how the Ledger makes money.
Corrections
Corrections run at the top of the next edition and on the corrections page, and the original entry is updated with a note. Report an error to editor@aledoledger.com.
Photographs
Photographs are public domain, government work, or used under a Creative Commons license with attribution, and each is credited where it appears, with a link to its source and license. A file photo is labeled as one.
Privacy
Reader data is not sold or shared. See the privacy policy.
