How a provider gets verified
- The business applies with the form below, or a reader suggests it and the Ledger asks the business.
- The Ledger checks the public record for it: the state license or registration where the trade requires one, and the sales-tax permit or assumed-name filing that shows the business exists here.
- The Ledger confirms the contact details, the services and the service area with the business itself.
- The listing goes up with the date it was confirmed and how. It says what the business does, not how well it does it.
- Every listing is reconfirmed at least every 180 days. One that cannot be reconfirmed comes down until it can.
What is for sale, and what is not. Verification is free and cannot be bought. A verified business may pay for a featured or category placement; that listing says "Paid placement," sits in the same list under the same rules, and buys no coverage. The Aledo Ledger is independently owned by its publisher, who lives in the Aledo area and whose family has business interests here, including real estate marketing and early-childhood education. Any entry that touches those interests carries a note saying so. Sponsors never see a story before it runs and never decide what runs.
