The Aledo Ledger is independently owned by its publisher, who lives in the Aledo area and whose family has business interests here, including real estate marketing and early-childhood education. Any entry that touches those interests carries a note saying so. Sponsors never see a story before it runs and never decide what runs.
How the Ledger is made
Entries marked "compiled from public records" are assembled automatically from the government feeds listed in the data archive and checked by an editor before publication. Quotes are never generated; every quote is taken from a document or recording we can point to. The rules it follows are on the about page, and errors are fixed in the open on the corrections page.
