The Flood Watch, issued September 30 at 4:40AM CDT by NWS Fort Worth, runs from 4 PM CDT this afternoon through Friday morning for portions of North and Central Texas mainly along and west of I-35, and its county list includes Parker. The forecast for Aledo is cloudy today with a high near 93, a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms and gusts as high as 35 mph; showers and thunderstorms tonight with a 90% chance and new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible; and showers and thunderstorms Thursday, a 100% chance, with another 1 to 2 inches possible. The Aledo City Council meets Thursday, Oct. 1, with a 5 p.m. work session on Dean Ranch and the 6 p.m. regular meeting; CivicClerk shows both agendas posted September 25, 2026. Aledo ISD's post dated September 17, 2026 says Coder Elementary has been named a Lone Star Ribbon School, the only school in Region 11 and one of only 25 campuses throughout the state, recognized in the Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing category. The alert says excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, that low-water crossings may be flooded, and that those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The district's post says the Lone Star Ribbon School program, in its second year, replaces the National Blue Ribbon Schools program; that schools were selected through a quantitative analysis of 2024-2025 state assessment data, including earning an overall A rating; and that Coder was recognized for reducing performance gaps between underserved student groups and statewide student performance over time. The post carries statements from Principal Gina Henze and Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn. The Ledger had not carried the post before this edition.
