The record
Aledo ISD trustees meet Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. and will vote on the 2026-2027 superintendent contract after a closed session on the superintendent's evaluation instrument and contract
The regular meeting is in the Aledo ISD Administration Board Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Rd., per BoardBook. The last item before adjournment is "Consider Approval of 2026-2027 Superintendent Contract," following an executive session that also lists consultation with the board's attorney, deliberation regarding real property and a student matter.
Action items in open session: Resolution 10202026-1, "Authorizing the Donation of Real Property to Parker County, Texas from Aledo ISD and Authorizing Superintendent to Negotiate and Execute Terms and Documents Related Thereto," presented by Caleb Bell, chief facilities and construction officer; a purchase of cellular distributed antenna systems, presented by David Stevens, chief of police and director of safety and security; the GoGuardian annual renewal; and the 2026-2027 campus and district improvement plans. The agenda does not say which property would go to the county.
Trustees will also hear beginning-of-year student assessment data and hold a preliminary discussion of legislative priorities for the 90th Texas Legislature. The consent agenda includes a resolution on the extracurricular status of athletic performance volleyball. Commendations go to the district's National Merit Commended Scholars and AP Capstone Diploma recipients, and Stuard Elementary and McAnally Middle School present. Public comment on agenda and non-agenda items comes before the consent agenda and the votes.

Aledo's Library Board on Thursday takes up new rules for challenging a library book, a first generative-AI section, a Local Author Collection and card eligibility for Aledo business owners
Library Director Beck Gorman's memos say the policies were last revised in November 2024. Under the Collection Development Policy revisions, the review form is renamed the "Statement of Concern Regarding Materials Form," and the director will confirm it comes from "an established card holder in good standing and resident of Parker County and/or Aledo ISD" before the Review Committee takes it up. The committee would grow from three members to four: the library director, the city manager or designee, and two Library Board members, replacing the current seat for a library staff librarian or a City Council member. A patron may not file another form until the first review is complete, and the material stays available while it is reviewed.
The Circulation Policy formally includes city and Aledo ISD employees and adds Aledo business owners as eligible for cards, and adds account purging after three years of inactivity with no outstanding fines, or five years when fines remain. The Code of Conduct revision says police help may include a Criminal Trespass Order. New policies cover privacy and confidentiality, which the memo says the Texas State Library and Archives Commission requires for accreditation, programming, and the TalkBox booths. The board meets at 6 p.m. at the Aledo Municipal Complex, 200 Old Annetta Road, then holds a work session on the library strategic plan.

The library has no visitor count since December: the door count is "unavailable in new location for now," and the report says a new people counter will be purchased in fiscal 2027.

Coach Robby Jones: "A win's a win, but I would've liked to have finished it off with that 35-point lead that we had at one time."
