Monday: Willow Park's own voter information document puts the $10.11 million certificates-of-obligation…
Why it matters. This is the last full week to vote early, and the borrowing question, Proposition B on the county's sample ballot, is the one item on Willow Park ballots with a price tag attached. Nothing new posted over the weekend at Aledo City Hall, Willow Park City Hall, Aledo ISD or the county.
Partly sunny, high near 80, and no active weather alerts for Aledo. Burn ban: still on, unchanged since Saturday. Bearcat runners are at the UIL regional cross country meet today and Tuesday.
$24.31
The city's estimate of the most that the $10.11 million in certificates of obligation would add in a year to taxes on a Willow Park homestead appraised at $100,000, if voters approve them More

The record
Willow Park's borrowing question, by the numbers: $10.11 million in certificates, an estimated $5.9 million in interest, and up to $24.31 a year on a $100,000 homestead
The question asks whether the City Council may issue $10,110,000 in certificates of obligation for water and sewer work; streets, roads and intersections, including drainage and sidewalks; the city's drainage utility system; the land and rights-of-way those projects need; and related professional services. The ballot wording labels it a tax increase. It is on the ballot because of a petition: after the council approved a notice of intent to issue the certificates on Dec. 9, 2025, the city received a petition signed by at least 5% of qualified voters protesting the issue, and under state law the city then cannot issue them without voter approval. The council ordered the election Aug. 11. In its voter information document, the city estimates $5,904,013 in interest at an assumed 4.75% rate, for $16,014,013 in principal and interest over 20 years. It says about $3,760,000 of the principal is expected to be self-supported from utility revenues, and its $24.31 maximum yearly increase assumes the certificates are sold in one series, 1.20% average yearly growth in appraised values over the next five years and 98% tax collections. The same document lists $71,040,000 in outstanding city debt principal when the election was ordered, including a $6,430,000 tax note issued Sept. 9, 2026, and about $97.5 million in principal and interest on that debt. The city says the figures come from its municipal advisor's projections and may change. The county's sample ballot lists the question as Proposition B; Proposition A is the proposed Home Rule Charter. The city's own election notice, a separate ordinance, calls the borrowing question Proposition A.
