Election Day is Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Early voting ended Friday. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and Parker County voters can use any countywide polling place. Willow Park voters will decide Proposition B on the county's sample ballot, which asks whether the city may issue $10,110,000 in certificates of obligation; Proposition A on the same ballot is the city's proposed home rule charter. The city's election notice traces the debt question to the council's Dec. 9, 2025 resolution authorizing a notice of intention to issue the certificates, and lists the city's outstanding debt at $64,610,000 and its debt-service tax rate at $0.2259 per $100 of value.

What you can do. Tuesday is Election Day; any Parker County polling place works, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Aledo council, Thursday: a downtown rezoning and new home parking rules

The council meets Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers, Aledo Municipal Complex, 200 Old Annetta Road. Two public hearings lead the agenda posted Oct. 30. Ordinance No. 2026-O-31 would rezone two tracts at 325 Old Annetta Road, 1.557 acres zoned single-family and 0.473 acres zoned partly single-family and partly downtown, to the Downtown District. The staff memo says the applicant, Joshua Rogers, on behalf of 325 Old Annetta Road LLC, proposes to redevelop the existing house and detached garage "as a commercial office and group meeting space." The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval Oct. 8. Ordinance No. 2026-O-32 would require two enclosed off-street spaces for homes on top of a baseline of two spaces per dwelling unit, stop on-street parking from counting toward required parking in residential districts, and let the city allow up to 10% of required parking on the street in non-residential districts where off-street space is limited.

What you can do. If you're building or buying new in Aledo, Thursday's parking rule would make two enclosed garage spaces a requirement for homes, and you can speak at the hearing.

Also Thursday: Nov. 19 meeting may be canceled, an engineering order, library policies

Staff recommend canceling the Nov. 19 regular meeting, citing "the limited agenda and the meeting's proximity to the Thanksgiving holiday"; a special meeting could be called if needed. The council will consider appointing City Manager Candice Edmondson and Public Works Director Travis Askins to the Parker County Public Utility Agency board, and a fiscal 2027 on-call engineering order with Kimley-Horn. That order has no fixed amount and is billed hourly; the FY 2027 budget includes $225,000 for general engineering not tied to a capital project. Also listed: revisions to five library policies and the library's agreement with the Friends of Aledo Public Library, a work session on privacy, programming and TalkBox booth policies, the fourth-quarter investment report ($22.4 million in cash and investments on Sept. 30), and a proclamation for the Aledo Children's AdvoCats in their 24th year. The executive session, as posted, lists consultation with the city attorney (Section 551.071) on: Dean Ranch Development; Downtown Development; Bailey Ranch Development; and deliberation regarding economic development negotiations (Section 551.087) on: Dean Ranch Development Agreement.
