Aledo City Council tonight, 6:00 PM: food trucks and sign rules in work session, a 24-month $135,082 maintenance agreement for the wastewater plant's UV disinfection system, Ordinance No. 2026-O-29 rewriting the building-permit rules, Ordinance No. 2026-O-30 on the Atmos Energy tariff, and Dean Ranch in executive session

The agenda, posted October 8, 2026 3:06 PM on CivicClerk, sets the meeting in the City Council Chambers at the Aledo Municipal Complex, 200 Old Annetta Road, and CivicClerk's meeting listing gives the same location. Per the packet: the Kingdom Technology Services agreement is a $50,000 deposit at signing and $3,545 a month over 24 months, covering two technicians on site twice a year and all parts, lamps, glass tubes and electronics; the permit ordinance updates provisions originally adopted in 1977, removing the $50.00 permit threshold and the requirement for City Council to approve or disapprove individual building permit applications, and makes the Building Official or designee the authority for reviewing and issuing permits; and staff writes that Atmos Energy is anticipated to begin providing natural gas service to customers within the Aledo city limits in 2027. The food-truck work session memo proposes a $20 annual registration fee for individual food trucks and asks whether they should be allowed to operate outside a food truck park. Consent also appoints Public Works Director Travis Askins as the voting member and City Manager Candice Edmondson as the alternate on Fort Worth's Wholesale Water Customer Advisory Committee for FY2027. The council also casts the city's vote in the Texas Municipal League Region 8 Director Election and hears a proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month for Freedom House Parker County. Executive session lists Dean Ranch Development, Downtown Development, the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Dean Ranch Development Agreement, with Zoning Board of Adjustment appointments listed for action afterward.
Where it stands: Aledo and Fort Worth's suit against Willow Park over the 320-acre Beall-Dean Ranch tract, with Parker County added as a defendant, was pending in the 43rd District Court as of Oct. 11. The draft minutes in Aledo's Oct. 15 packet record that the council on Oct. 1 approved the settlement for Aledo and Fort Worth v. Willow Park, Beall-Dean Ranch, and Parker County by unanimous vote, Councilman Todd Covington abstaining due to a conflict of interest, after a work session with the Dean Ranch developers; the minutes do not describe the terms, and no filing closing the case was on the record. Dean Ranch Development is listed for executive session again Oct. 15.
