In a release dated Oct. 23, the city said Yount brings 28 years of police work. He started in 1998 with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, moved to the White Settlement Police Department in 2000, and rose from patrol officer to detective, sergeant and lieutenant before becoming assistant chief in 2023. The city says he has served as a SWAT operator and hostage negotiator, and that as assistant chief he helped White Settlement keep its Texas Police Chiefs Association re-accreditation for a fourth straight time, in June 2025. He holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and a master's in criminal justice from Tarleton State University. "I am deeply honored and truly excited to serve as the Chief of Police for Willow Park," Yount said in the release. City Manager Toni Fisher said the city is "excited for his experience and enthusiasm to lead our police department." The announcement does not say who leads the department until he arrives.

What you can do. Yount's first day: Tuesday, Dec. 1.
