Sunday: Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Why it matters. Early voting is over, so Tuesday is the last chance to vote, and Willow Park residents will also decide whether the city may borrow $10,110,000 for water, sewer, street and drainage work.

Clocks fell back an hour at 2 a.m. today. Patchy fog this morning, then partly sunny, and the weather service expects showers and thunderstorms Monday night. Aledo ISD students are off Monday. The Bearcats close the regular season Friday at home against fourth-place Arlington Lamar.

$64.61 million

in outstanding debt principal Willow Park reported when it called the Nov. 3 certificates-of-obligation election, plus $25,534,941 in interest owed through maturity; its debt-service tax rate was $0.2259 per $100 of value More

Willow Park's ballot question: $10,110,000 in certificates of obligation, labeled "THIS IS A TAX INCREASE"

The city's notice asks whether the council may issue the certificates for water and sewer facilities, streets, roads and intersections, the drainage utility system, the land and rights-of-way they need, and related professional services, repaid with property taxes and backed by surplus water and sewer revenue. The question is on the ballot because residents petitioned against the certificates after the council's Dec. 9, 2025, notice of intent; the council ordered the election Aug. 11. The notice estimates a maximum net interest rate of 4.75% and says the debt would likely be paid off over about 20 years, though it can run up to 25. Those estimates are not a cap, the notice says.

Football: with one game left, Aledo can finish no lower than third in District 3-6A

Friday's 61-0 win over Sam Houston left the Bearcats 5-1 in district and 6-3 overall, behind Martin (6-0, 9-0) and ahead of Weatherford (4-2) and Lamar (3-3), per MaxPreps standings updated overnight. Even with a loss Friday, Aledo would finish no worse than tied with Weatherford at 5-2, ahead of every other team, so the Bearcats will end the regular season inside the top four, the district's playoff places. Aledo beat Weatherford 70-14 on Oct. 23. MaxPreps ranks Aledo 27th in Texas. Next up: Arlington Lamar at home, Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m., Senior/Parent Night.
