School board adopts Plan 7 for the 2017-2018 elementary attendance zones, 6-1

Trustee Bobby J. Rigues voted no and explained his reasoning on the record.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session Jan. 10, 2017, at 6:01 p.m. with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Derek Citty explained the process for determining elementary attendance zones, citing feedback from the community and trustees, and recommended Plan 7. On a motion by Hoyt Harris seconded by Dr. David Tillman, the board approved Plan 7 for the 2017-2018 elementary attendance zones, 6-1, with Rigues voting against. Rigues said he opposed the plan based on data concerning socioeconomically disadvantaged students and his belief in their non-effect on school campuses. The meeting adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
