School board approves kitchen HVAC and gym lighting upgrades and a class-ranking policy change as the high school wins the 5A Texas Cup

Collins set the board's subcommittees for the coming year, and Policy Update 127 was previewed.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met June 15, 2026, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Laura Pace, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott, Lynn Morgan and David Lear present; Zachary Tarrant joined at 6:49 p.m. Collins announced the subcommittee assignments for the coming year: legislative, Lear, Collins and Scott; board operating procedures, Pace, Tarrant and Collins; bond progress and planning, Pruett, Lear and Tarrant; community relations, Morgan, Pruett and Tarrant; safety audit committee representatives, Collins and Morgan; strategic partners representatives, Pace, Morgan and Pruett; and budget, Lear, Morgan and Scott. Superintendent Susan Bohn urged families to register students and announced that Aledo High School and the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus won the 5A Texas Cup and finished runner-up for the 5A UIL Lone Star Cup for 2025-2026.

The Ladycat softball team, silver medalists at the 2026 UIL Class 5A state tournament, led the pledge and was commended along with FFA state qualifiers and award winners, UIL State Academics gold medalists on the current issues and events and social studies teams and silver medalists in spelling, and softball academic all-state honorees.

The board approved, each 7-0: HVAC upgrades for the Aledo High School kitchen and LED lighting upgrades for the competition gym, presented by Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Caleb Bell; an update to policy EIC(Local) on class ranking, presented by Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey; Region 11 contracts for 2026-2027; and new staffing for 2026-2027. The consent agenda, 6-0, included policies FM(Local) on student activities and FD(Local) on admissions, a low attendance day waiver and a teacher data portal waiver.

Crissey shared Cycle 4 professional learning community ratings, Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld updated the 2025-2026 general fund, Chief Technology Officer Brooks Moore discussed annual technology license and warranty renewals, and Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond walked through Board Policy Update 127, nine local policies including superintendent nonrenewal, financial ethics, employment practices, personnel positions, gifted and talented programs and student safety. The board met in executive session from 7:24 to 8:33 p.m. on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter.
