School board adopts the 2019-2020 budget and a $1.4933 tax rate, a ten-cent cut the state's required motion language calls a 4.04% increase, and calls 2007 and 2012 bonds early to save $488,775
Husfeld explained that despite the language state law requires in the motion, the proposed rate was not an increase but a ten-cent decrease. On a motion by Secretary Forrest Collins seconded by David Lear, the board voted 7-0 to adopt a 2019 total tax rate of $1.4933 per $100 of valuation, $1.0683 for the general fund and $0.4250 for debt service, under a motion worded as an effective 4.04 percent increase in the tax rate. It also approved the final amended budgets for 2018-2019, 7-0. After an executive session from 8:15 to 9:42 p.m. on the superintendent's annual evaluation with no action, the meeting adjourned.

Harris reassigned board liaison roles: Loftin to lead a new board operating procedures manual committee, Turner as education foundation liaison, and Bobby J. Rigues and Forrest Collins continuing on legislative reports. Rigues reported on Governor Abbott's school and firearms safety action plan, and Bohn said she would attend a Parker County safety summit that week. There were no public comments.

School board names Dr. Susan Bohn lone finalist for superintendent, 7-0
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session April 5, 2018, at 5:31 p.m. with all seven trustees present once Dr. David Tillman arrived at 5:46. After a closed session on superintendent applicants from 5:32 to 5:56 p.m., President Jay Stringer read the Texas Government Code Section 552.126 exception protecting the names of superintendent applicants and said the board had been transparent about the process while protecting confidentiality. On a motion by Forrest Collins seconded by Hoyt Harris, the board named Dr. Susan Bohn lone finalist for superintendent, 7-0. Trustees described the search and the finalist in their comments, Collins thanked search consultant Dr. Jenny Preston, and Superintendent Derek Citty said he looked forward to welcoming Bohn. After the Fast Growth Coalition, the board rethinks its bond committee and starts an attendance-zone policy
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session March 7, 2018, with all seven trustees present. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Trustee Forrest Collins reported on the Fast Growth Coalition meeting and on a session Superintendent Derek Citty arranged with three superintendents, an architect and a lawyer on bond committee planning; they found most districts had the same difficulties, that committee makeup mattered and should not be too large, and that skeptics should be included so they know what is going on. Citty said he would bring a synopsis to a March 19 work session and an action item in April, with a suggestion to rename the committee the Facility Advisory Committee. Executive Director of Curriculum Kathy Allen had trustees prioritize value and process statements toward a draft attendance-zone policy for April. The meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.

School board adopts a Cultural Inclusiveness Plan, 6-1, and after the Florida shooting hears a plan for four more police officers and a trustee's call to hire them immediately
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Feb. 20, 2018, with all seven trustees present. The Aledo Learning Center presented. Superintendent Derek Citty offered condolences to those affected by the school shooting in Florida and said a plan was in place to hire four more police officers in the next school year; Forrest Collins said he would rather see it done immediately than wait for the next fiscal year, and the item was added to the next agenda. Citty also reported declining influenza numbers. The board commended TMEA all-state band and choir students, a child nutrition award, a stock show sculpture winner and the Gatorade Texas boys cross country runner of the year. President Jay Stringer reminded trustees of the Senate Bill 1566 training deadline of Sept. 1, 2018. Two residents spoke, on the budget and bond and on the cultural diversity plan.

After 22 residents speak, the board postpones the elementary attendance zones on a 5-2 vote when a motion for Plan 10 finds no second
The board approved a change order for Elementary No. 5, 7-0. A motion by David Davis to approve Elementary Attendance Zone Plan 10 received no second and no vote. On a motion by Jennifer Loftin seconded by Stringer, the board voted 5-2 to postpone Plan 10 and keep working on the boundaries, with Forrest Collins and Hoyt Harris against. After an executive session from 10:10 to 10:17 p.m. on the Elementary No. 6 location, Citty asked trustees to find common ground and decide, and the meeting adjourned at 10:19 p.m.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session Nov. 28, 2016, at 8:02 a.m. with President Jay Stringer, Secretary Hoyt Harris and Trustees Jennifer Loftin, Bobby J. Rigues and Forrest Collins present. The board heard presentations and rebuttals in a Level III grievance hearing in closed session and met in executive session from 8:39 to 8:57 a.m. On a motion by Harris seconded by Rigues, it voted 5-0 to uphold the Level II decision, and adjourned at 9:01 a.m.

Trustees weigh what they heard at two town halls on attendance zones, order stage-two buses, and split 5-1 on a high school boiler from 2008 bond funds
President Jay Stringer led trustee comments on the two town halls. Forrest Collins, Hoyt Harris and David Davis each said the Sanctuary Oaks and Bella Vista neighborhoods should remain at Stuard; Collins asked that schools be kept at functional capacity and the ten-year plan for more schools be made clear; Harris and Davis said lines could not be set in stone with new developments; Jennifer Loftin said next year would look different whether students moved or not; Bobby J. Rigues said Aledo was one of seventy-five fast-growth districts and transparency and sound reasoning were essential; Stringer asked to minimize moves this year and move more students in two years; and Citty said plugging two communities in means pulling other students out to balance. Loftin reported the Mad for Plaid campaign drew more than 170 guests, and Rigues reported the 85th session's interest in vouchers, finance and governance. A resident spoke about foreign exchange students.

Rigues reported on Senate Education Committee testimony on vouchers and on TEA's Lone Star Governance training, and Forrest Collins on educating the public about a voucher system. Rigues to legislative. Rigues reported stirrings in Austin over budget cuts. There were no public comments. The consent agenda, approved 5-0, included 4-H resolutions.

School board revises the Elementary No. 5 schematic design at Walsh Development's request on a 3-2 vote, adopts the 2016-2017 code of conduct and four policies, and nominates Bobby Rigues to TASB's board
On a motion by Dr. David Tillman seconded by Loftin, the board approved the revised final schematic design for Elementary No. 5 as requested by Walsh Development, 3-2, with Rigues and Forrest Collins against. It approved, each 5-0, policies FFA(Local), DNA(Local), DNB(Local) and BED(Local), a resolution to join the PACE purchasing cooperative, a resolution accepting electronic bids, the 2016-2017 Student Code of Conduct and the nomination of Rigues to the TASB board of directors. No executive session was needed, and the meeting adjourned at 10:57 p.m.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met May 16, 2016, with six trustees present at the start. The retiring Aledo Learning Center principal reflected on 17 years in the district. The board approved the official election results, Forrest Collins winning Place 4 with 883 votes and Bobby J. Rigues winning Place 5 with 1,199 votes, 6-0, and both took the oath, Collins taking his seat. The board recognized a National Merit finalist, the girls state golf team, state track and UIL students and a state history paper qualifier.
