School board honors the 2025 state champion baseball team and authorizes the negotiation and sale of real property
The board also extended its bank depository contract, revised its leave policy, approved Region 11 contracts and a pizza vendor, and heard the 89th Legislature's implications. Every vote was 6-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met June 16, 2025, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott, Lynn Morgan and David Lear present. Two Aledo High School graduates headed to the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy led the pledges. Collins discussed subcommittee assignments for 2025-2026, including a new board budget subcommittee and expanding the strategic partners subcommittee to community involvement as a whole. Superintendent Susan Bohn marked the end of the school year, and Vice President David Lear reported on the impacts of the recently concluded 89th Legislative Session.
The board commended the Aledo High School baseball team as 2025 UIL Class 5A Division I state champions, the softball team as state bronze medalists, the one-act play company as state silver medalists, FFA state qualifiers, UIL state band and choir solo and ensemble medalists, and UIL academics state qualifiers. Members of the public spoke during public comment, and the consent agenda, including a low attendance day waiver, passed 6-0.
The board approved, each 6-0: revisions to policy DEC(Local) on leaves and absences; an extension of the bank depository contract; Resolution 06162025-1 authorizing the negotiation and sale of real property under Texas Local Government Code Section 272.001, presented by Bohn; the 2025-2026 Region 11 service contracts; and Request for Proposal 2505-02 for delivered pizza for child nutrition operations.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared Cycle 4 professional learning community data; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld discussed the 2024-2025 general fund and the draft 2025-2026 budget and a potential addendum to the Public Workers' Compensation Program agreement; and Chief Technology Officer Brooks Moore discussed annual technology license and warranty renewals. The board met in closed session from 7:55 p.m. on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter.
