Meeting remotely, the board approves PBK's schematic design for Elementary School No. 6
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session remotely via Webex on March 30, 2020, at 6 p.m. with all seven trustees present. Director of Construction and Facilities Tyler Boswell said PBK had met with staff, students and the community to shape the design, and that the schematic design phase accounts for 15% of PBK's work for the district. Lee Osborne and Sean Pantin of PBK presented the design, and Mike Trammel of Buford Thompson Construction reported on very preliminary budget matters. On Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld's recommendation, the board approved the schematic design for new Elementary School No. 6, 7-0, on a motion by Secretary Forrest Collins seconded by David Lear. Cabinet members updated the board on the COVID-19 building closure, and the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.

School board adopts the 2019-2020 budget and a $1.4933 tax rate, a ten-cent cut the state's required motion language calls a 4.04% increase, and calls 2007 and 2012 bonds early to save $488,775
Husfeld explained that despite the language state law requires in the motion, the proposed rate was not an increase but a ten-cent decrease. On a motion by Secretary Forrest Collins seconded by David Lear, the board voted 7-0 to adopt a 2019 total tax rate of $1.4933 per $100 of valuation, $1.0683 for the general fund and $0.4250 for debt service, under a motion worded as an effective 4.04 percent increase in the tax rate. It also approved the final amended budgets for 2018-2019, 7-0. After an executive session from 8:15 to 9:42 p.m. on the superintendent's annual evaluation with no action, the meeting adjourned.

Loftin reported that all trustees had exceeded their required training hours and that the education foundation's April 5 gala raised $30,204 for Future Ready Aledo. A resident spoke about handwriting in the curriculum.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session July 2, 2018, at 8:32 a.m. with President Hoyt Harris, Secretary Forrest Collins and Trustees Bobby J. Rigues, David Lear and Julie Turner present. After an executive session from 8:33 to 8:55 a.m. on the two candidates, the board approved the administration's recommendations to hire Shana Smith as assistant principal at Vandagriff Elementary and Amber Crissey as assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, each 5-0. The meeting adjourned at 8:59 a.m.

At Superintendent Derek Citty's last meeting, the board elects Harris, Loftin and Collins, awards custodial and grounds contracts, exits the Dallas County Schools transportation contract, and grants the city an emergency-siren easement
The board approved, each 7-0: an easement to the City of Aledo for an emergency outdoor warning siren; PBS of Texas LLC's proposal for custodial services; Ronnie Walters Lawn Care, LLC's proposal for grounds services; the separation from the Dallas County Schools transportation contract, after Citty said the district had recovered all known assets; a resolution on alternative graduation requirements under Education Code Section 28.02541 for students who entered ninth grade before 2011-12 and did not pass the exit-level test; and phase 2 of the 2018 summer maintenance projects with Trane U.S. Inc., White Horse Painting, Aledo Drywall & Acoustics and American Painting. Policy CDC(Local) on gifts and solicitations, including crowdfunding, was tabled to June, 7-0. Trustees thanked Citty and welcomed Jessica Brown and David Lear, and the meeting adjourned at 10:05 p.m.

Rigues, Forrest Collins and Julie Turner present; Vice President Hoyt Harris arrived at 8:33 a.m. On Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld's recommendation, the board canvassed the May 5 trustee election results, David Lear for Place 1, Loftin for Place 2 and Jessica Brown for Place 3, 6-0. After an executive session on athletic and curriculum administration from 8:33 to 9:12 a.m., the meeting adjourned.
