Eleven action items passed 7-0, including three curriculum purchases, the middle school parking project, custodial and grounds extensions, and the auditor for 2025-2026. Collins, Lear and Tarrant were re-elected as officers.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met May 18, 2026, with all seven trustees present at the start. Superintendent Susan Bohn thanked Trustee Hoyt Harris for 15 years of service to the district; Harris left the meeting at 6:04 p.m., and the board swore in Zachary Tarrant to Place 6 and Laura Pace to Place 7, with Pace taking her seat at 6:06 p.m. President Forrest Collins announced that all trustees had met or exceeded their continuing education hours for 2025-2026. Bohn celebrated the Aledo Leads Cohort's graduation, and Vice President David Lear reported on the local runoff election.
The Early Childhood Academy and Aledo Learning Center presented, and the board commended the high school's Pre-AP Geometry team, the month's Bearcats of Character, four Circle of Greatness honorees, the colorguard's North Texas Colorguard Association silver medal, a UIL theatrical design state qualifier, four students admitted to service academies, a student with K-12 perfect attendance, state qualifiers in golf, track and field and tennis, academic all-state honorees, two new leadership team members, and Derek Vierling for establishing the district's soccer program and 25 years of service. Members of the public spoke during public comment.
The board approved, each 7-0: purchases of IXL Learning language arts and math, Really Great Reading products and NWEA's MAP Growth assessments; the Teague Nall and Perkins contract for the Aledo Middle School and Early Childhood Academy parking and drives; one-year contract extensions with McLemore Building Maintenance for custodial services and Lawn Patrol for grounds; a Viva Railings proposal to upgrade and repair the Aledo Middle School cafeteria railing; new staffing positions for 2026-2027; an order authorizing the issuance of Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds, Series 2026, and delegating authority for their sale and delivery, presented by Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Josh McLaughlin of BOK Financial; Request for Qualifications 2604-05 engaging Patillo, Brown & Hill for the 2025-2026 audit; and naming the turf field at the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus Vierling Field on the retirement of the soccer coach. The consent agenda, also 7-0, included a renewal of the delivered-pizza proposal for child nutrition and an interlocal agreement with the Town of Annetta on use of a utility vehicle.
After an executive session from 8:14 to 9:33 p.m. that included a board officer discussion, the board elected Collins president, Lear vice president and Tarrant secretary, each 7-0. Earlier, Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill and Math Coordinator Deanne Torres gave instructional updates, Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond reviewed Region 11 contracts, and Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Caleb Bell discussed kitchen HVAC upgrades at Aledo High School.
