The Early Childhood Academy and Aledo Learning Center presented, and the board commended the high school's Pre-AP Geometry team, the month's Bearcats of Character, four Circle of Greatness honorees, the colorguard's North Texas Colorguard Association silver medal, a UIL theatrical design state qualifier, four students admitted to service academies, a student with K-12 perfect attendance, state qualifiers in golf, track and field and tennis, academic all-state honorees, two new leadership team members, and Derek Vierling for establishing the district's soccer program and 25 years of service. School board approves Coder Elementary kitchen replacements, the 2024-2025 improvement plans and a technology equipment policy

Stuard Elementary and the Aledo Learning Center presented, the learning center reporting growth in graduation numbers and credits earned. The board commended the month's Bearcats of Character, three AP Capstone diploma recipients, five National Merit commended scholars, a National Merit semifinalist and Coder Elementary's fourth-grade team. No one spoke during public comment. Lear left the meeting at 7:01 p.m. and rejoined at 7:04 p.m.; the consent agenda, including a resolution to join the Houston-Galveston Area Council cooperative purchasing program, passed 5-0 in his absence.

School board approves the district improvement plan, bond-funded security cameras and playgrounds, and the charge for the committee that will redraw attendance zones

Annetta Elementary and the Aledo Learning Center presented. The board commended the Bearcat Regiment and visual ensemble as UIL Class 5A state marching qualifiers, the band program's Earl D. Irons Program of Distinction and Foundation for Music Education awards for the high school wind ensemble, symphonic band and both middle school bands, the girls cross country team as state silver medalists and the boys team's 10th-place state finish, four Circle of Greatness honorees and Vandagriff Elementary's first-grade team. Community members spoke during public comment.

School board buys Chromebooks, performing arts equipment and activity buses, and awards the bid to convert Vandagriff Elementary into the Early Childhood Academy

Annetta Elementary and the Aledo Learning Center presented. The board marked School Board Recognition Month and commended the PTO's donation to the district, FFA state qualifiers, a CTENT teacher of the year, academic all-state honorees and an AVCA All-American volleyball player. No public comments were given. The consent agenda passed 7-0 and included class size exception waivers, remote homebound attendance waivers, missed school day waivers and a resolution on wage payments during emergency school closings.

School board approves 2018-2019 staffing projections, including 21 teachers and three police officers, and hears a proposal for a 37-member bond planning committee

The board approved Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney's 2018-2019 staffing projections, 21 new teachers, a special education specialist, a part-time diagnostician, a speech therapist, a part-time special education counselor, a part-time ABA therapist, an assistant principal at Walsh Elementary, three police officers, a district-wide intervention counselor, a facilities and operations position, an attendance clerk, two child nutrition staff and a general maintenance worker, 6-0, and furniture for the Aledo Learning Center expansion, 6-0. After an executive session from 9:18 to 10:44 p.m. that included the Elementary School No. 6 site contract, the meeting adjourned at 10:50 p.m.

School board adopts a Cultural Inclusiveness Plan, 6-1, and after the Florida shooting hears a plan for four more police officers and a trustee's call to hire them immediately

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Feb. 20, 2018, with all seven trustees present. The Aledo Learning Center presented. Superintendent Derek Citty offered condolences to those affected by the school shooting in Florida and said a plan was in place to hire four more police officers in the next school year; Forrest Collins said he would rather see it done immediately than wait for the next fiscal year, and the item was added to the next agenda. Citty also reported declining influenza numbers. The board commended TMEA all-state band and choir students, a child nutrition award, a stock show sculpture winner and the Gatorade Texas boys cross country runner of the year. President Jay Stringer reminded trustees of the Senate Bill 1566 training deadline of Sept. 1, 2018. Two residents spoke, on the budget and bond and on the cultural diversity plan.

School board adopts the 2017-2018 calendar over one dissent, opposes the state's A-F system, postpones naming the new elementary, bars candidates from using the district logo, and honors the 2016 state champion football team

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Jan. 23, 2017, with all seven trustees present. The Aledo Learning Center presented. Superintendent Derek Citty reported on the A-F resolution and an extended timeline for hiring the Elementary No. 5 principal, and drew ten teachers for $250 attendance awards. The board honored coach Steve Wood and the seniors of the 2016 Bearcat state champion football team and retiring Transportation Director Steve Bond for 43 years of service, and marked School Board Recognition Month. President Jay Stringer set the superintendent evaluation for a Feb. 7 special meeting, and Citty presented proposed 2017 goals. Bobby J. Rigues reported the 85th session's hot topics: appropriations, vouchers and the A-F system. The local educators' association president thanked trustees, and a resident spoke on the strategic plan and teacher salaries.

Collins and Rigues are seated, Stringer keeps the presidency 5-2, and the superintendent states the district's restroom policy as nine residents speak on it

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met May 16, 2016, with six trustees present at the start. The retiring Aledo Learning Center principal reflected on 17 years in the district. The board approved the official election results, Forrest Collins winning Place 4 with 883 votes and Bobby J. Rigues winning Place 5 with 1,199 votes, 6-0, and both took the oath, Collins taking his seat. The board recognized a National Merit finalist, the girls state golf team, state track and UIL students and a state history paper qualifier.

The consent agenda passed 7-0. The School Health Advisory Council gave its end-of-year report, Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld reported the 2016-2017 budget on schedule with certified values due at the end of July, and Ross Rivers of VLK Architects gave a bond snapshot. The board approved, each 7-0: the 2015-2016 audit firm engagement letter; a budget amendment related to bond refunding; rooftop units for McAnally Intermediate; and servers to store security camera footage. After an executive session from 10:34 to 11:22 p.m., it approved teacher contracts and Cheryl Jones as Aledo Learning Center principal, each 7-0. Trustees welcomed Collins and voiced appreciation for Citty's restroom statement, and the meeting adjourned at 11:26 p.m.
