The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Nov. 18, 2013, with six trustees present. Stuard Elementary's student council presented. Superintendent Derek Citty presented a timeline for a possible move of fifth grade to McAnally Intermediate, with a recommendation due in January. The board commended the district Christmas card winners and the Jack Harvey Award recipient. Dr. David Tillman reported the Community Partners dinner served about 30 members and presented $10,000 to the education foundation; Citty reported the foundation had received 52 innovative teacher grant requests totaling $147,247.64. There were no public comments. The consent agenda passed 6-0.
A Region 11 consultant reported the service center's services; Executive Director of Curriculum Kathy Allen, student services coordinator Scott Kessel and Police Chief Chawn Gilliland reported on FEMA school safety training in Maryland and a coalition with Parker County; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld reported work beginning at the Learning Center and the high school vestibule over Thanksgiving and a possible bank-qualified refinancing of the Series 2005-A bonds; and Allen previewed Update 98's 91 policies.
The board approved, each 6-0: the election of Parker and Tarrant County appraisal district directors as presented; a funding request from the Texas Taxpayer and Student Fairness Coalition; equipment and repair bids for energy management controls at McAnally, resurfacing the Bearcat Stadium track and police department vehicles; the superintendent evaluation instrument; and a board operating procedure manual review committee chaired by Tillman and Bobby J. Rigues. No executive session was needed, and the meeting adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
