The board commended UIL academic medalists, HOSA state finalists, ag mechanics winners, state track and field medalists, state golf qualifiers, BPA state qualifiers, state solo and ensemble qualifiers, new principals at Coder and Walsh elementaries and the communications department's TSPRA award. After a COVID-19 update from Executive Director of Student Health Services Scott Kessel, the board voted 7-0 to rescind the resolution delegating emergency authority to the superintendent, citing the lack of need for it.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met June 8, 2020, with all seven trustees present: President Hoyt Harris, Vice President Jennifer Loftin, Secretary Forrest Collins and Trustees Julie Turner, Jessica Brown, Jennifer Taylor and David Lear. Harris explained the board's three subcommittees: operating procedures, legislative and bond construction. Collins said the legislative subcommittee would meet State Representative Phil King about the instructional calendar and remote education. The board recognized three Circle of Greatness honorees and introduced new principals for the Daniel Ninth Grade campus and McAnally Intermediate. The publisher of The Community News spoke during public comment about the paper's partnership with the district over the past 25 years.

Citty reported that the Aledo A logo is now a trademark the district will enforce, that the district had never observed the federal ruling's 8.5% special education figure, that the deputy superintendent had represented the district before the Aledo City Council in opposition to a beer and wine license for a business across from McAnally Intermediate, and thanked first responders and staff for their handling of the Jan. 22 fires. The board honored the Associated Press 5A football players and trainers, the trustees for School Board Recognition Month, and the PTO for gifts of $12,700 to each elementary campus, $5,000 each to the high school and ninth grade campus and $1,100 to the learning center. President Jay Stringer announced he would not run again.

The board approved, each 5-0: the annual external audit report; the district fiber project; and the calling of the May 2018 trustee election. Superintendent Derek Citty reported on convocation, Executive Director Denise Dugger previewed the accountability ratings released Aug. 15, and the board welcomed three new specialists and recognized a middle school science teacher as a state finalist for the Presidential Award. Education foundation executive director Shawn Callaway said the foundation gave $265,000 to the district in the past year with a goal of $289,000 for the next. Eight residents spoke, on the budget, the M&O tax rate, the bond proposition language, the superintendent's contract, the bond and test scores, property taxes and options for the growing student population.

The board approved a resolution delegating approval of off-campus activities to the superintendent for attendance accounting, 7-0. A motion by Dr. David Tillman, seconded by Forrest Collins, to reduce the probable cost of Middle School No. 2 in the bond by $1,000,000 to re-evaluate rooftop units against geothermal failed 2-5. A motion to transfer $1,000,000 to the program and design contingency line and remove the $1,000,000 estimated for synthetic turf passed 7-0. The board nominated Bobby J. Rigues as delegate to the Advocacy Institute and amended policy BED(Local) to extend public comment to 60 minutes, each 7-0.

Superintendent Derek Citty announced town halls on Nov. 7 and 10, the Nov. 14 regular meeting and a Dec. 15 workshop, with a decision hoped for at the Dec. 15 regular meeting. School board adopts the 2016-2017 campus improvement plans as the attendance-zone calendar is set and a testing irregularity delays the TAPR

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Oct. 17, 2016, with six trustees present once Hoyt Harris arrived. The high school's National Honor Society officers presented. Superintendent Derek Citty reminded trustees of the Oct. 24 attendance-boundary workshop, the Nov. 3 Mad for Plaid fundraiser and town halls Nov. 7 and 10, described a cultural awareness in-service by Dr. Adolf Brown, and showed the fence being placed at McAnally Intermediate to give students a safer walk to Bearcat Park. The board recognized the Daniel Ninth Grade principal as the Texas Art Educator Association's principal of the year. President Jay Stringer distributed the 2016 goals and draft evaluation instrument and said the superintendent's evaluation might be delayed because statewide testing irregularities had held up the Texas Academic Performance Report. Dr. David Tillman reported the Community Partners' donations of $3,000 to the AdvoCats and $2,500 to the education foundation; Jennifer Loftin reported 62 grant applications; Bobby J. Rigues reported on school choice hearings, House Bill 5 pathways and TEA governance training. There were no public comments.

The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included the textbook committee and McAnally's Morning Mile program. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld updated Elementary No. 5, and education foundation executive director Shawn Callaway presented the foundation's annual financial report. The board approved the 2016-2017 campus improvement plans, 6-0, needed no executive session, and adjourned at 8:26 p.m.

The consent agenda passed 7-0. The School Health Advisory Council gave its end-of-year report, Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld reported the 2016-2017 budget on schedule with certified values due at the end of July, and Ross Rivers of VLK Architects gave a bond snapshot. The board approved, each 7-0: the 2015-2016 audit firm engagement letter; a budget amendment related to bond refunding; rooftop units for McAnally Intermediate; and servers to store security camera footage. After an executive session from 10:34 to 11:22 p.m., it approved teacher contracts and Cheryl Jones as Aledo Learning Center principal, each 7-0. Trustees welcomed Collins and voiced appreciation for Citty's restroom statement, and the meeting adjourned at 11:26 p.m.

With five residents pressing on where to build Elementary No. 5, the board tables the location, authorizes Series 2016 refunding bonds, limits Dallas County Schools to transportation, and calls the May election

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Feb. 15, 2016, with six trustees present. McAnally Intermediate's BIGG Club presented. Superintendent Derek Citty reported on the City of Aledo sidewalk grant project and elementary playgrounds nearing completion. The board recognized the football team, all-state band and choir students and the Daniel Ninth Grade campus's CREST Award. Bobby J. Rigues invited trustees to a Region 11 community meeting on the House Bill 2804 accountability system. Five residents spoke: on teacher salaries and Elementary No. 5, the role of the board, the school's location, a petition to reconsider the vote to build north, and public trust.
