The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Sept. 15, 2014, with all seven trustees present. Coder Elementary presented its Thinking Maps. Superintendent Derek Citty set town hall meetings on the bond package for Oct. 6 and 13 and four brown-bag lunches, reported enrollment of 5,040 on Sept. 9 against Templeton Demographics' projection of 5,061, and said traffic flow at McAnally Intermediate was improving. Hoyt Harris reported the education foundation's first fundraising campaign of the year; Dr. David Tillman reported the Community Partners at 46 members. The board chose career and technical education as the subject of its Oct. 27 Team of Eight training, set a Sept. 19 operating procedures committee meeting, and directed the administration to compile the board self-evaluation items. There were no public comments.
The consent agenda, including the 2014-2015 School Health Advisory Council, passed 7-0. Denise Dugger gave the ESL annual report and reported 262 students in summer school; Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney reported the sick leave bank at 325 members, sixty percent of staff; CTE coordinator Mary Smith presented the program's goals.
The board approved, each 7-0, a maximum class size waiver for three classrooms, the revised 2014-2015 school calendar and the 2014-2015 superintendent goals. After an executive session from 8:27 to 9:30 p.m. on personnel and safety and security with no action, the meeting adjourned at 9:31 p.m.
