School board adopts its 87th Legislature priorities, reviews the facility-naming policy and the attendance-zone process, and hears four residents on mask rules
Interlocal agreements with the Town of Annetta and the City of Hudson Oaks passed on consent, 7-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Nov. 16, 2020, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Susan Bohn said learning opportunities remained the district's highest priority in the changing climate COVID-19 presented. Forrest Collins reported on the State Board of Education's proposed school board governance framework, and Jessica Brown said Elementary School No. 6 remained on schedule. Stuard Elementary presented, and the board commended journalism state recognition, Duke TIP honorees and national recognition program scholars. Four residents spoke about the district's COVID-19 protocols, including the mask requirement and its application to children under 10; Executive Director of Student Services Scott Kessel reviewed case trends and said the administration would make changes to safety protocols.
The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included interlocal agreements with the Town of Annetta and the City of Hudson Oaks. The board approved the district's legislative priorities for the 87th Legislative Session as presented by the legislative subcommittee, 7-0.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and campus teams reported on the professional learning community institute; Director of Construction and Facilities Tyler Boswell updated Elementary School No. 6, Middle School No. 2, Aledo Middle School, McAnally Intermediate and Vandagriff; Bond Progress Committee president Matt Morris and a second committee member reported, with equity between the two middle schools as a priority; Bohn and President Hoyt Harris reviewed policy CW(Local) on naming facilities and the board discussed ideas for the new schools; and Bohn presented a draft attendance-zone planning process built around a committee of trustee appointees and applicants. After an executive session at 9 p.m., the meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
