Coder Elementary presented, and the board commended the district's Superior rating in the School FIRST financial integrity system for 2023-2024, the month's Bearcats of Character, the McAnally and Aledo Middle School bands as national winners and Citation of Excellence recipients through the Foundation for Music Education, with McAnally also TMEA State 2C Honor Band runner-up, the Aledo High School band's fifth-place finish at the UIL state marching contest, the percussion ensemble's international competition win, the choir's national award, ag advocacy state qualifiers, the Ladycat volleyball team as state bronze medalists, academic all-state honorees, and Stuard Elementary's kindergarten team.

Stuard Elementary and the Aledo Learning Center presented, the learning center reporting growth in graduation numbers and credits earned. The board commended the month's Bearcats of Character, three AP Capstone diploma recipients, five National Merit commended scholars, a National Merit semifinalist and Coder Elementary's fourth-grade team. No one spoke during public comment. Lear left the meeting at 7:01 p.m. and rejoined at 7:04 p.m.; the consent agenda, including a resolution to join the Houston-Galveston Area Council cooperative purchasing program, passed 5-0 in his absence.

It voted 6-0 to cast all of the district's votes for Sterling Naron for the Parker County Appraisal District board and took no action on the Tarrant Appraisal District board.

Walsh Elementary presented on connecting with its community, and the board commended Stuard Elementary's fourth-grade team. Parker County Judge Pat Deen, Chris Bosco and Commissioner Mike Hale presented the county's proposed 2023 Transportation Improvement Bond Program. The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included credit-by-examination approvals and the memorandum of understanding with the Aledo Education Foundation.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Nov. 16, 2020, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Susan Bohn said learning opportunities remained the district's highest priority in the changing climate COVID-19 presented. Forrest Collins reported on the State Board of Education's proposed school board governance framework, and Jessica Brown said Elementary School No. 6 remained on schedule. Stuard Elementary presented, and the board commended journalism state recognition, Duke TIP honorees and national recognition program scholars. Four residents spoke about the district's COVID-19 protocols, including the mask requirement and its application to children under 10; Executive Director of Student Services Scott Kessel reviewed case trends and said the administration would make changes to safety protocols.

Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and instructional specialists reviewed professional learning community progress, and Director of Construction and Facilities Tyler Boswell gave a timeline of architect meetings. After a closed session on a Level 3 hearing, the board voted 7-0 to deny the grievance filed April 17, 2019, then met in a second executive session until 10:40 p.m. with no action. The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 15, 2019, with Vice President Jennifer Loftin presiding and Secretary Forrest Collins and Trustees David Lear, Bobby J. Rigues and Jessica Brown present; Julie Turner joined at 9:29 p.m. Walsh Elementary presented. The board commended Stuard Elementary's Destination Imagination state team, two perfect ACT scores and HOSA state qualifiers, and recognized Weatherford College's 150th anniversary and its dual-credit partnership with the high school. Loftin reported that all trustees had exceeded their required training hours and that the education foundation's April 5 gala raised $30,204 for Future Ready Aledo. A resident spoke about handwriting in the curriculum.

The board approved, each 5-0: the Aledo ISD vision statement, Growing greatness through exceptional experiences that empower learners for life; an order authorizing the issuance and sale of Aledo ISD Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds, Series 2019, and delegating authority for their sale; adoption under Proclamation 2019 of Texas myView Literacy from Pearson for grades K-5 and SpringBoard English Language Arts from the College Board for grades 6-8; and Firetrol Protection Systems' proposals for fire alarm systems at the high school, its ag building, Bearcat Stadium, Stuard Elementary and the auxiliary services building.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Sept. 18, 2017, with six trustees present once Jennifer Loftin and Dr. David Tillman arrived. In a work session, Executive Director of Professional Development and Accountability Denise Dugger gave an overview of the 2017 accountability system, and each principal discussed their campus's strengths, challenges and plans. Stuard Elementary presented. Superintendent Derek Citty discussed the Morningstar and Walsh developments and a draft list of bond presentations and town halls. Loftin reported $2,000 in September fast cash grants; Tillman reported the Community Partners had given more than $6,000 in gift certificates to new teachers; Bobby J. Rigues reported on legislative charges after Hurricane Harvey; and Citty showed the supplies the district's campuses had collected for West Orange-Cove ISD. There were no public comments.

The board approved four maximum class size waivers in fourth grade at Stuard Elementary, 6-0. After an executive session from 9:17 to 9:52 p.m. on the locations of Elementary No. 6 and Middle School No. 2 with no action, trustees asked about the attendance zone policy, follow-up after reports, and a November discussion of the superintendent's contract requested by Hoyt Harris and Forrest Collins. Trustees weigh what they heard at two town halls on attendance zones, order stage-two buses, and split 5-1 on a high school boiler from 2008 bond funds

President Jay Stringer led trustee comments on the two town halls. Forrest Collins, Hoyt Harris and David Davis each said the Sanctuary Oaks and Bella Vista neighborhoods should remain at Stuard; Collins asked that schools be kept at functional capacity and the ten-year plan for more schools be made clear; Harris and Davis said lines could not be set in stone with new developments; Jennifer Loftin said next year would look different whether students moved or not; Bobby J. Rigues said Aledo was one of seventy-five fast-growth districts and transparency and sound reasoning were essential; Stringer asked to minimize moves this year and move more students in two years; and Citty said plugging two communities in means pulling other students out to balance. Loftin reported the Mad for Plaid campaign drew more than 170 guests, and Rigues reported the 85th session's interest in vouchers, finance and governance. A resident spoke about foreign exchange students.

At the second town hall on elementary attendance zones, 25 speakers raise moves, commutes, volunteers, special needs and grandfathering

The minutes record 25 numbered concerns. Recurring themes: children who would leave Vandagriff, Coder and Stuard for the new school and the friendships and adjustment involved; Coder's loss of parent volunteers and questions about socioeconomic balance; commute times, bus rides, railroad tracks and two major arteries on the way to the new school in the north; requests to let current kindergartners stay, to grandfather students, or to hold the change until Elementary No. 6 opens; a special-needs child's resources and a child's medical needs far from a parent; whether the city's infrastructure planning figured in; whether a hybrid keeping fifth graders at McAnally could work; why the district builds small elementary schools; how many houses are being developed; and one speaker who said the consistent theme that no one wants to move showed the schools were doing a good job. Citty thanked the audience, and trustees asked for patience, said they would give reasons for the decision, and said they were looking at more than numbers. The meeting adjourned at 9:23 p.m.

At the first town hall on elementary attendance zones, Templeton Demographics presents the fall update and 23 speakers respond

The minutes record 23 numbered concerns. Among them: a petition to keep Sanctuary Oaks and Bella Vista at Stuard because McCall is three times as far; families a fraction of a mile from Vandagriff who would be reassigned; socioeconomic balance among five schools and Coder's parent volunteers; children who could attend three elementary schools as Elementary No. 6 is built; railroad tracks, highways and commute time; whether boundaries and a sixth school were considered when the bond passed; a bond voter's objection that the school was built in the north rather than where a 2025 committee wanted it, and a question of whether the community can trust the board; requests for open enrollment at the new school, grandfathering and a hybrid model keeping fifth grade at McAnally; a call for a traffic analysis; and one parent who said a school change had been the best thing to happen to his son. Citty asked the audience to send additional feedback to trustees, and the meeting adjourned at 8:59 p.m.

Templeton Demographics presents proposed elementary boundaries; the board asks for a hybrid option and sets two town halls

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session Oct. 24, 2016, at 6:02 p.m. with six trustees present once David Davis arrived. Rocky Gardiner of Templeton Demographics presented the proposed elementary attendance boundaries. The board asked the administration and Templeton to prepare a second, hybrid option in which Vandagriff and Stuard fifth graders would attend McAnally Intermediate while the other elementary schools kept their fifth graders. Superintendent Derek Citty announced town halls on Nov. 7 and 10, the Nov. 14 regular meeting and a Dec. 15 workshop, with a decision hoped for at the Dec. 15 regular meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:01 p.m.

School board approves 23 class size waivers over one dissent, adopts Policy Update 106, and hears the Coder project is 99% complete

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Sept. 19, 2016, with six trustees present. Stuard Elementary presented. Superintendent Derek Citty gave an enrollment update and discussed functional capacity at campuses. The board recognized two National Merit semifinalists, the transportation director's certification as a pupil transportation master official, and two middle school band teachers as national winners in the Mark of Excellence program. Education foundation executive director Shawn Callaway reported 11 new directors and online grant applications. Bobby J. Rigues reported on Senate Education Committee testimony on vouchers and on TEA's Lone Star Governance training, and Forrest Collins on educating the public about a voucher system. There were no public comments.
