School board marks a 20th straight Superior financial rating, authorizes advertising a sale or exchange of property on Old Weatherford Road, and closes out the 2019 bond updates
Rooftop air conditioning replacements for the high school auditorium and the Early Childhood Academy passed 6-0, and staff previewed ESSER-funded network upgrades, a roof and carpet.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Dec. 12, 2022, with President Hoyt Harris and Trustees Turner, Jessica Brown, Jennifer Loftin, Jennifer Taylor and David Lear present. The high school choir performed. Superintendent Susan Bohn noted the week's early release, the employee Come and Go and the state send-off for the football team. Brown reported on the legislative subcommittee's meetings with the district's state legislators and on the 2019 bond projects, and Aledo Growth Committee co-chair Dan Reilley updated the board on the committee's work.
The Daniel Ninth Grade campus presented. The board commended the district's Superior School FIRST rating and Vandagriff Elementary's kindergarten team. No one spoke during public comment. The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included agreements to join purchasing cooperatives, policy COA(Local) on food and nutrition procurement, and an interlocal agreement to join the Region 10 Education Service Center multi-region purchasing cooperative.
The board approved, each 6-0: hiring Heat Transfer Solutions, Inc. for rooftop air conditioning unit replacements at the Aledo High School auditorium; hiring John Cook & Associates for rooftop unit replacements at the Early Childhood Academy; and a resolution authorizing the advertisement of the sale or exchange of real property on Old Weatherford Road, presented by Bohn and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld.
In communication items, Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell said all 2019 bond projects were completed or nearing completion and that this would be the last recurring 2019 bond update; Assistant Superintendent Kim Raymond reviewed the draft 2023-2024 calendar and, with Executive Director of Student Services Scott Kessel, the district safety audit summary and intruder detection audit reports; Husfeld said the district earned a Superior School FIRST rating for the 20th year in a row and updated the general fund; and staff previewed network equipment upgrades at Coder, McCall and Stuard elementaries with ESSER funds, the Early Childhood Academy's south roof replacement and classroom carpet at the three elementaries. Executive session items included the superintendent's performance update, Cause No. CV22-1776 in the 415th District Court of Parker County, and security audits. The meeting adjourned at 10:12 p.m.
