With buildings closed for the rest of the year, the board approves a Stuard serving line, a Vandagriff gym roof and an agreement with the Parker County Economic Development Council
Every vote was 7-0. The bond projects were in design development and schematic design, and Policy Update 114's 18 policies were previewed.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met by video conference April 20, 2020, with all seven trustees present. President Hoyt Harris reported that school buildings would be closed for the rest of the school year with the hope of reopening in August. Forrest Collins said the legislative subcommittee's priorities would come to the board in August and September. Vandagriff Elementary presented on distance learning, and the board commended robotics state and world qualifiers, HOSA state qualifiers, FFA national placings including a grand champion at the San Antonio stock show, a Class 5A 200 freestyle state champion and other swim qualifiers, a BPA national qualifier, and four Circle of Greatness honorees. There were no public comments.
The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included the April 9 minutes. The board approved, each 7-0: Pasco Brokerage, Inc.'s quote to replace the cafeteria serving line at Stuard Elementary; Hutcherson Construction, Inc.'s competitive sealed proposal for the Vandagriff Elementary gym roof replacement with 2015 bond funds; and a memorandum of understanding with the Parker County Economic Development Council.
Cabinet members gave operational updates on the building closure; Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey presented instructional data through March 13 and Coder Elementary's kindergarten team; Director of Facilities and Construction Tyler Boswell reported Elementary School No. 6 in design development and the Aledo Middle School, Middle School No. 2, McAnally conversion and Vandagriff early childhood projects in schematic design; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld reported on COVID-19's potential effect on the 2020-2021 budget and presented the fund balance report; and Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney previewed the 18 policies in Board Policy Update 114. After a recess and an executive session from 8:55 to 10:17 p.m., the meeting adjourned at 10:19 p.m.
