Aledo ISD Administration Board Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road

Lear, Scott and Pruett are sworn in, Loftin and Brown are honored, and the board orders 13 buses and a slate of 2023 bond safety projects

Nine action items passed 5-0: buses, playground shade structures, McCall playfield improvements, bus parking, interior security doors, public address systems, access control, science equipment and the 2023-2024 audit engagement. Collins, Lear and Taylor were elected officers.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met May 20, 2024, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jessica Brown, Jennifer Loftin and David Lear present at the start. The board recognized outgoing Trustees Jennifer Loftin, Place 2, and Jessica Brown, Place 3, and swore in David Lear to Place 1, Jim Scott to Place 2 and Jeremy Pruett to Place 3. Lear reported on the state election under way and the 2023 bond projects.

Stuard Elementary presented on its student campus jobs. The board commended a one-act play state qualifier company, HOSA competitors, academic all-state athletes in basketball, soccer, tennis, softball and track and field, a VASE qualifier, FFA competitors, track and field and golf state qualifiers, the 2023-2024 Teacher Leader Cohort, four Circle of Greatness honorees, McAnally Middle School's seventh-grade science team, and the 2024-2025 principals of McAnally Middle School and the high school and ninth grade campus. Members of the public spoke, and the board recessed for 10 minutes before reconvening at 8:20 p.m.

The consent agenda, approved 5-0, included cheerleader and dance uniforms for the high school and both middle schools and the 2024-2025 staffing positions. The board then approved, each 5-0: science equipment to meet updated state curriculum standards; the purchase of 13 school buses with 2023 bond program funds; district playground shade structures and McCall playfield improvements with 2023 bond funds; improvements to the South Transportation Facility bus parking area; interior security doors, public address systems and access control upgrades for the 2023 bond safety and security project; and the audit firm engagement letter for the 2023-2024 audit.

Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and math staff gave a curriculum update, Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell updated the bond projects, and Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill previewed IXL Learning. After an executive session that included board officer organization, the board elected Collins president, Lear vice president and Jennifer Taylor secretary, each 5-0.
