School board cancels the May trustee election after candidates go unopposed, approves a donated competition-gym scoreboard, and gives land and an easement to Parker County
Aledo ISD was recognized as a Model PLC at Work district, and the communications department took two best-of-category awards from TSPRA. Every vote was 6-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met March 23, 2026, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott, Lynn Morgan and David Lear present. Collins thanked staff for the Jumpin' Jamboree event; Superintendent Susan Bohn announced that registration for 2026-2027 is open; Lear described the district's Local Government Collaborative; and Tarrant asked the community to give the Aledo Growth Committee feedback on future high school space.
Stuard Elementary and McAnally Middle School presented on the LEAD initiative. The board commended Stuard's third-grade team, the district's recognition as a Model Professional Learning Community at Work district, the month's Bearcats of Character, four wrestling and five swim state qualifiers, Texas Association of Future Educators state and national qualifiers, four Circle of Greatness honorees, 16 Business Professionals of America state qualifiers, academic all-state honorees in swimming, wrestling and girls basketball, and the communications department's two best-of-category awards, six gold stars, two silver stars and a Crystal finalist from the Texas School Public Relations Association. No one spoke during public comment.
On the consent agenda, approved 6-0, the board accepted the certification of unopposed candidates and canceled the May 2, 2026, trustee election. It then approved, each 6-0: the purchase of iPads as an instructional tool for teachers; a digital scoreboard upgrade for the Aledo High School competition gym, with Moritz Automotive Group donating a large portion of the cost; Resolution 03232026-1 authorizing the donation of real property to Parker County and the superintendent to negotiate and execute the terms; and Resolution 03232026-2 authorizing a drainage easement for highway purposes to Parker County.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey reviewed daily impact walk data, Science Coordinator Matthew Simmons gave a science update, and Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill discussed the adoption of a math curriculum. The board met in executive session from 7:54 to 8:34 p.m. on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter, and adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
