Aledo ISD Board Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road

School board hires VLK as the 2015 bond's architect, approves security entrance designs for four campuses, creates an employee crisis fund and honors Johnny Campbell's ten years

Eleven action items passed 6-0, including the E-Rate resolution, a reimbursement statement for bond costs and a new high school assistant principal.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met June 15, 2015, with six trustees present. Superintendent Derek Citty gave a bond update that included forming a Bond Advisory Committee and a Bearcat Innovation Nation committee, and drew ten teachers for $250 perfect-attendance awards. Bearcat Academy graduates received certificates; the board recognized a Duke talent search honoree, the girls and boys state track teams and the state softball team, and gave a special award to Johnny Campbell for ten years of service on the board. Hoyt Harris reported the foundation's golf tournament was a success and a $30,000 Amon Carter Foundation grant would pay for sophomores' PSAT. There were no public comments.

The consent agenda passed 6-0. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented a budget update with projected enrollment, preliminary 2015 tax values and collections. The board approved, each 6-0: the district and foundation employee crisis fund; the architectural contract with VLK; an extension of the First Financial Bank depository contract; the 2015-2016 transportation hazardous zones; competitive sealed proposals as the procurement method for the four security entrances and the Coder renovation; instructional materials; the 2015-2016 E-Rate resolution; a statement of intent to reimburse costs from 2015 bond funds; and the design for security entrances at Aledo Middle School, McAnally Intermediate, Stuard Elementary and Vandagriff Elementary. After an executive session from 10:11 to 10:43 p.m., it approved David Stubbs as Aledo High School assistant principal, 6-0. Trustees suggested a workshop on board goals, and the meeting adjourned at 10:47 p.m.
