School board approves Coder Elementary kitchen replacements, the 2024-2025 improvement plans and a technology equipment policy
The Aledo Education Foundation donated its fall safety campaign proceeds to the district, and the board joined the Houston-Galveston Area Council purchasing program.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Oct. 21, 2024, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, David Lear, Jennifer Taylor and Jim Scott present. Collins said the Aledo Leads cohort had held its first meeting of the year. Superintendent Susan Bohn encouraged the community to vote in the election under way. The Aledo Education Foundation donated the proceeds of its fall safety campaign to the district's safety and security efforts. Lear reported on building the district's legislative priorities and scheduling meetings with legislators, and Tarrant updated the 2023 bond projects.
Stuard Elementary and the Aledo Learning Center presented, the learning center reporting growth in graduation numbers and credits earned. The board commended the month's Bearcats of Character, three AP Capstone diploma recipients, five National Merit commended scholars, a National Merit semifinalist and Coder Elementary's fourth-grade team. No one spoke during public comment. Lear left the meeting at 7:01 p.m. and rejoined at 7:04 p.m.; the consent agenda, including a resolution to join the Houston-Galveston Area Council cooperative purchasing program, passed 5-0 in his absence.
The board approved, each 6-0: Request for Proposal 2509-01 for Coder Elementary School serving line and kitchen equipment replacement, phase 2, presented by Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld; the 2024-2025 campus and district improvement plans; and Board Policy Update 123, policy CQC(Local) on technology resources and equipment, presented by Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared Cycle 1 professional learning community ratings and Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill reviewed beginning-of-year screener data; Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell updated the bond projects. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter was posted.
