School board reconfigures the elementaries to kindergarten through fourth grade and McAnally Intermediate to fifth and sixth, 5-1, and seats the 2025 Committee

The mayor proclaimed Aledo Bearcat Football Day for the state champions. The superintendent's evaluation and contract were approved, and the foundation granted $90,595.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Jan. 20, 2014, with six trustees present, opening with a closed session on the superintendent's evaluation and contract from 6:03 to 6:56 p.m. McAnally Intermediate students presented. Superintendent Derek Citty reported the appraisal district election results and congratulated the middle school band on its Chicago performance. The board commended the 2013 academic all-state football players, and Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall read a proclamation recognizing the state champion team and designating Jan. 23, 2014 as Aledo Bearcat Football Day. Hoyt Harris reported the foundation's prize patrol granted $90,595 to teachers. Bobby J. Rigues presented changes to the board operating procedure manual. A resident spoke about science specialists moving to McAnally. The consent agenda passed 6-0.

Athletic Director Tim Buchanan reported Aledo tied for third in the Lone Star Cup; Denise Dugger reported the district above state on the annual measurable achievement objectives and presented the Texas Academic Performance Report, which replaces the AEIS report; Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney presented the 2012-2013 strategic plan evaluation; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld the 2014-2015 budget calendar; and Dugger a House Bill 5 update.

The board approved, each 6-0: a resolution on compensation days for bad weather; the textbook selection committee; the organizational chart; a shared services agreement with the Bluebonnet cooperative for students with visual impairments; and a right-of-way agreement and easement with Crosstex North Texas Gathering, L.P.; and the Aledo ISD 2025 Committee, 5-0 with Dr. David Tillman out of the room. It voted 5-1, with Rigues against, to reconfigure the elementary schools to kindergarten through fourth grade and McAnally Intermediate to fifth and sixth grades. After an executive session from 9:29 to 10:54 p.m., it approved the superintendent's evaluation and contract and a Stuard Elementary assistant principal, each 6-0, and adjourned at 11:04 p.m.
