Aledo ISD Administration Board Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road

School board adopts new elementary and middle school attendance zones, approves the second guaranteed maximum price for the high school project, and cancels the May 4 election

The Attendance Zone Committee's maps passed 6-0 after a month of public feedback. The 2023 bond safety and security project will use competitive sealed proposals.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met March 18, 2024, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jessica Brown, Jennifer Loftin, Jennifer Taylor and David Lear present. Collins discussed the budget process; Superintendent Susan Bohn thanked the community for supporting the instructional calendar's staff work days, asked residents to review and respond to the district's budget communications, and thanked the 2024 Attendance Zone Committee members present. Lear reported the results of the state primary election, and Brown updated the 2023 bond projects.

McAnally Middle School presented on its science classes. The board commended Texas Association of Future Educators and Business Professionals of America state qualifiers, UIL Class 5A state swimming and diving qualifiers, Speak Up Speak Out state qualifiers from both middle schools and the high school, and the eighth-grade reading language arts team. The consent agenda, approved 6-0, accepted the certification of unopposed candidates, canceled the May 4, 2024, trustee election, and certified the instructional materials allotment.

The board approved, each 6-0: the Attendance Zone Committee's proposed elementary and middle school attendance zone maps, presented by co-chairs Aaron Valencia and Lauren Edwards; Guaranteed Maximum Price #2 for the Aledo High School additions and renovations under the 2023 bond, presented by Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell; the competitive sealed proposal procurement method for the 2023 bond safety and security project; and library and media center materials for Lynn McKinney Elementary, presented by Assistant Superintendent Ingia Saxton.

Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared look-for data and social studies staff gave an update; Campbell updated the bond projects; Executive Director of Technology Brooks Moore previewed security camera servers and Chromebooks; Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill previewed the science and CTE curriculum adoption; and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld updated the 2023-2024 general fund and the 2024-2025 budget. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update was posted.
