School board names a long-range facility planning subcommittee, marks a 19th straight Superior financial rating, and buys furniture and technology for the new middle school and elementary
Every vote was 7-0. Policy Update 118 and a Region 10 purchasing cooperative were previewed for January.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Dec. 13, 2021, with all seven trustees present: President Hoyt Harris, Jessica Brown, Julie Turner, Forrest Collins, David Lear, Jennifer Taylor and Jennifer Loftin. The high school treble choir performed. Harris said the long-range facility planning subcommittee would be Harris, Lear and Loftin. Collins reported on the coming election season and advocacy events, and Brown on the 2019 bond projects.
McCall Elementary presented on project-based learning. The board commended the district's Superior rating in the School FIRST financial accountability system, an Aledo Education Foundation grant presentation, the principal of Charles McAnally Middle School, and a recognition of Superintendent Susan Bohn by the Texas Association of Community Schools. The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included class size exception waivers, a general fund budget amendment and the memorandum of understanding with the Aledo Education Foundation.
The board approved, each 7-0: furniture for McAnally Middle School and the new Vandagriff Elementary School; contingency allowance expenditure authorizations for the 2019 bond project at Annetta Elementary; and technology purchases for McAnally Middle School and Aledo Middle School.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey reviewed monthly instructional data and Annetta Elementary's kindergarten team was featured; Director of Facilities and Construction Tyler Boswell reviewed each 2019 bond project; Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney previewed Policy Update 118; and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld reported a Superior School FIRST rating for the 19th year in a row, updated the 2021-2022 budget against its enrollment and tax-collection assumptions, and previewed the Region 10 purchasing cooperative and playground equipment for the new Vandagriff Elementary. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update and evaluation instrument was posted.
