Aledo ISD Board Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road

School board adopts the 2017-2018 code of conduct, buys recording equipment for its meetings, and directs a project-by-project vote on the bond package

VLK Architects said it had ended a consultant's services after a bond committee SWOT meeting went off topic. Every vote was 6-0.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session Aug. 7, 2017, with six trustees present once Forrest Collins and Dr. David Tillman arrived. Superintendent Derek Citty introduced the new McCall principal. The board pulled the 2017-2018 Student Code of Conduct from the consent agenda and approved it, 6-0; approved the 2017-2018 appraisers and appraisal calendar and policy FM(Local) on student activities, 6-0; approved policy FD(Local) on admissions, 6-0; and approved the purchase of audio and visual recording equipment for board meetings, 6-0.

Citty apologized to the press and community that notice of a date change for the bond steering committee's SWOT meeting had not been sent. Leesa Vardeman of VLK Architects explained the meeting's intent and said that because the consultant VLK brought in had veered off topic and not followed instructions, VLK had ended her services. The board reviewed probable-cost worksheets for Middle School No. 2, the CTE additions and the McAnally renovations, discussed deferring the McAnally capital projects, and directed the administration to bring each project's cost back separately for a round-robin vote and to return with geothermal versus rooftop unit information. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented 2017-2018 budget projections and the TASB pay systems maintenance report. After an executive session from 9:24 to 10 p.m., the board approved Rebecca Faulkner as McCall Elementary assistant principal, 6-0, and adjourned.
