The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Jan. 18, 2022, with Vice President Jessica Brown presiding in President Hoyt Harris's absence and Trustees Forrest Collins, Turner, Jennifer Loftin, Jennifer Taylor and David Lear present. Superintendent Susan Bohn said the agenda had been shortened because COVID-19 illness had kept staff and students from attending and had caused staffing challenges across the district. Brown reported the board had appointed a long-range facility planning subcommittee; Lear said its first meeting reviewed demographic data and possible high school options given the district's growth. Brown also reported on supply chain issues at the McAnally Middle School project and said the Early Childhood Academy would go out to bid in February. Collins noted candidate forums and the Feb. 14 start of early voting.
The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included an interlocal agreement to join the Region 10 Education Service Center multi-region purchasing cooperative. The board approved, each 6-0: the annual financial audit for the year ended Aug. 31, 2021; TASB Board Policy Update 118; playground equipment for the new Vandagriff Elementary School; authority for the superintendent to extend and administer additional COVID-19 leave; an agreement with Population and Survey Analysts (PASA); and the calling of the May 7, 2022, Board of Trustees election.
Bohn presented the instructional focus on behalf of Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey; Director of Facilities and Construction Tyler Boswell updated the 2019 bond; Director of Technology Brooks Moore discussed a student device purchase; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented the 2022-2023 budget development process and calendar; and staff previewed performing arts equipment for the middle schools. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update was posted.
