School board approves Phase II of campus controlled entries, abatement work for the Early Childhood Academy and Aledo Middle School, and five curriculum purchases

Ten action items passed 6-0. Kimberly Raymond was welcomed as assistant superintendent of student and community programs, and the facility planning subcommittee reported the need for additional campuses.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 19, 2022, with Vice President Jessica Brown and Trustees Turner, Forrest Collins, Jennifer Loftin, Jennifer Taylor and David Lear present. Brown reported that all trustees had completed required TASB training and updated the 2019 bond projects. Superintendent Susan Bohn urged early registration and voting. Collins reported on the legislative subcommittee, and Lear on the facility planning subcommittee's tours and the need for additional campuses as enrollment grows rapidly.

Coder Elementary presented. The board commended new leadership team members including Kimberly Raymond as assistant superintendent of student and community programs, the Teacher Leader Cohort and district art show winners. Members of the community spoke during public comment. The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included the CTE vendor list, the instructional materials allotment and TEKS certification, and purchases of IXL Learning math, NWEA MAP Growth, SAVVAS enVision math materials, Lexia Core5 Reading and Really Great Reading products.

The board approved, each 6-0: instructional materials for McAnally Middle School; technology purchases for 2022-2023; Phase II of the 2015 bond campus controlled entries project; Drew Consulting Services Inc. as abatement consultant and HP EnviroVision as abatement contractor for the Early Childhood Academy project; playground equipment for the academy; an increased scope and cost for the Aledo Middle School abatement work; flooring materials, a contingency allowance expenditure authorization and cafeteria furniture for Aledo Middle School; and additional staffing for 2022-2023.

Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and instructional specialists reviewed district data and Vandagriff Elementary's fourth-grade team was featured; Director of Facilities and Construction Tyler Boswell updated the 2019 bond; and a TASB representative presented the annual pay systems review. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update was posted.
