The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met May 18, 2015, with all seven trustees present. The Aledo Learning Center's principal presented its programs. The board canvassed the May 9 trustee election, Jay Stringer in Place 1, Jennifer Loftin in Place 2 and David Tillman in Place 3, and the May 9 bond election, which passed, each 6-0 before Loftin was sworn in; the board secretary then swore in all three. The board recognized state visual arts students, the varsity color guard, the horse judging team and McCall Elementary as a Title I high-progress school. After a closed session on officer qualifications, it elected Stringer president, David Davis vice president and Steve Bartley secretary, each 7-0.
Superintendent Derek Citty outlined the bond's next steps, Elementary School No. 5, safety and security, technology, buses and renovations, and set a June 3 meeting on the bus purchase. Stringer proposed recognizing Johnny Campbell's ten years of service in June. Dr. David Tillman reported the Community Partners' food drive collected 510 pounds; Hoyt Harris announced the foundation's June 12 golf tournament. Two residents spoke, on teacher salaries and on leadership.
The consent agenda, including a budget amendment related to bond refunding and Region 11 contracts, passed 7-1 as the minutes record it. The School Health Advisory Council gave its annual report. The board approved, each 7-0, the 2015-2018 strategic plan, the purchase or lease of portable classrooms for McAnally Intermediate, and the 2014-2015 audit engagement letter, and after an executive session approved a term contract, 7-0. The meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
