After a COVID-19 update from Executive Director of Student Health Services Scott Kessel, the board voted 7-0 to rescind the resolution delegating emergency authority to the superintendent, citing the lack of need for it.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 15, 2019, with Vice President Jennifer Loftin presiding and Secretary Forrest Collins and Trustees David Lear, Bobby J. Rigues and Jessica Brown present; Julie Turner joined at 9:29 p.m. Walsh Elementary presented. The board commended Stuard Elementary's Destination Imagination state team, two perfect ACT scores and HOSA state qualifiers, and recognized Weatherford College's 150th anniversary and its dual-credit partnership with the high school. Loftin reported that all trustees had exceeded their required training hours and that the education foundation's April 5 gala raised $30,204 for Future Ready Aledo. A resident spoke about handwriting in the curriculum.

After a closed session on two candidates, the board hired Holly Elgin as principal of Walsh Elementary and Candace Summerhill as director of assessment and accountability, each 5-0. The consent agenda passed 5-0.

The board honored coach Steve Wood and the seniors of the 2016 Bearcat state champion football team and retiring Transportation Director Steve Bond for 43 years of service, and marked School Board Recognition Month. President Jay Stringer set the superintendent evaluation for a Feb. 7 special meeting, and Citty presented proposed 2017 goals. Bobby J. Rigues reported the 85th session's hot topics: appropriations, vouchers and the A-F system. The local educators' association president thanked trustees, and a resident spoke on the strategic plan and teacher salaries.

Tim Fleet and Kim Gill of Morningstar Development reported on lots, construction, the amenities center and pools; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Buford Thompson Construction updated Elementary No. 5 and presented the budget calendar; Executive Director Denise Dugger reported the district's accreditation status as Met Standard; Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney presented the first-year evaluation of the 2015-2018 strategic plan; Director of Student Services and Safety Scott Kessel updated the School Health Advisory Council's cultural awareness plan; and the board decided that no candidate may use the district's Bearcat logo in a board election.

The board approved the 2017-2018 school calendar, 5-1, with Dr. David Tillman against; the 2015-2016 audit report, 6-0; a resolution opposing the A-F system, 5-0 with Jennifer Loftin abstaining; postponement of naming Elementary No. 5 as Walsh Elementary, 5-1, with Stringer against; a resolution for sidewalks, 7-0, before David Davis left; and policies DCB(Local) and DCE(Local), 6-0. On a motion by Jennifer Loftin seconded by Stringer, the board voted 5-2 to postpone Plan 10 and keep working on the boundaries, with Forrest Collins and Hoyt Harris against. After an executive session from 10:10 to 10:17 p.m. on the Elementary No. 6 location, Citty asked trustees to find common ground and decide, and the meeting adjourned at 10:19 p.m.

The education foundation reports $636,000 given to the district as the board sets its calendar, adopts Policy Update 105 and signs a Crime Stoppers agreement

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Aug. 15, 2016, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Derek Citty announced meet-the-teacher nights, the Sept. 7 groundbreaking for Elementary No. 5 with a construction camera viewable on the website, and a convocation address by iSchool Initiative founder Travis Allen. The board recognized two state solo and ensemble performers. Education foundation executive director Shawn Callaway reported more than half a million dollars raised to date and $636,000 given to the district so far this year, supporting PSAT testing for sophomores, wheelchair swings at each elementary, an employee crisis fund and teacher grants. Bobby J. Rigues reported Senate Education Committee hearings on board governance and school choice. The executive director of the East Parker County Library reported on the summer reading program in public comment.

School board sets the Elementary No. 5 guaranteed maximum price at $22,317,741 and takes a school finance workshop

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session Aug. 4, 2016, with six trustees present. On a motion by Hoyt Harris seconded by Jennifer Loftin, the board approved the final guaranteed maximum price amendment to the contract with Buford-Thompson Company for phase 2 of Elementary School No. 5 in the amount of $22,317,741, 6-0. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld then presented the components and concepts of Texas school finance and their effect on the district, a goal the board had set for itself, and answered questions. Five trustees honor former trustee Steve Bartley, adopt an operating procedures manual, approve the Elementary No. 5 earthwork price and a slate of purchases, and set the attendance-zone calendar

The board approved, each 5-0: the Board Operating Procedure Manual; Collins as TASA/TASB delegate with Stringer as alternate; moving the board calendar to August; a School Priority Month resolution; 2016-2017 meal prices; an agreement with Dr Pepper Snapple Group; technology HVAC upgrades; Aledo High School auditorium stage equipment and rigging; a resolution supporting construction of an addition to the Parker County Appraisal District's building, presented by Chief Appraiser Larry Hammonds; and the guaranteed maximum price for the phase 1 earthwork package for Elementary No. 5. The iPads for instructional staff passed 4-0 with Tillman abstaining. No endorsement was needed for the TASB board because Rigues was the only Region 11 candidate. The board approved Alyssa Seay as middle school assistant principal, 5-0, and adjourned at 10:14 p.m.

School board revises the Elementary No. 5 schematic design at Walsh Development's request on a 3-2 vote, adopts the 2016-2017 code of conduct and four policies, and nominates Bobby Rigues to TASB's board

On a motion by Dr. David Tillman seconded by Loftin, the board approved the revised final schematic design for Elementary No. 5 as requested by Walsh Development, 3-2, with Rigues and Forrest Collins against. It approved, each 5-0, policies FFA(Local), DNA(Local), DNB(Local) and BED(Local), a resolution to join the PACE purchasing cooperative, a resolution accepting electronic bids, the 2016-2017 Student Code of Conduct and the nomination of Rigues to the TASB board of directors. No executive session was needed, and the meeting adjourned at 10:57 p.m.

School board approves the final design of Elementary No. 5 as the CFO reports the 2016 refunding saved more than $12 million

The board approved, each 5-0 after David Davis left at 9:02 p.m.: the final design and exterior elevation for Elementary No. 5; a resolution on hours for grandparent care; policies FD(Local) on admissions and FM(Local) on student activities; and, after an executive session from 10:29 to 10:59 p.m., teacher contracts. With five residents pressing on where to build Elementary No. 5, the board tables the location, authorizes Series 2016 refunding bonds, limits Dallas County Schools to transportation, and calls the May election

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Feb. 15, 2016, with six trustees present. McAnally Intermediate's BIGG Club presented. Superintendent Derek Citty reported on the City of Aledo sidewalk grant project and elementary playgrounds nearing completion. The board recognized the football team, all-state band and choir students and the Daniel Ninth Grade campus's CREST Award. Bobby J. Rigues invited trustees to a Region 11 community meeting on the House Bill 2804 accountability system. Five residents spoke: on teacher salaries and Elementary No. 5, the role of the board, the school's location, a petition to reconsider the vote to build north, and public trust.

The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included corrections to prior minutes, among them a correction of the Feb. 1 special meeting minutes to state $191,000 for the superintendent compensation package. Athletic Director Tim Buchanan presented the concussion protocol, CTE Director Mary Smith gave an overview of five endorsements, Director of Student Services and Safety Scott Kessel presented the 2015 drug and alcohol survey and a strategic plan, and Citty showed maps with hypothetical boundaries for Elementary No. 5 in the south or the north.

The board approved, each 6-0: the Too Good for Drugs program; an order authorizing Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds, Series 2016, with sale parameters, a bond purchase contract and escrow agreement; Technology Package 1; a report to TEA that the Treetops Charter School would have a negative impact on the district; the Dallas County Schools contract for transportation services only; the calling of the trustee election for Places 4 and 5; and tabling the location of Elementary No. 5. After an executive session from 10:10 to 11:48 p.m., it approved administrator contracts and an interdistrict transfer petition with a policy waiver through 2016-2017, each 6-0. A trustee suggested meeting twice a month, Citty said talks with Walsh Development on a memorandum of understanding would continue, and the meeting adjourned at 11:52 p.m.

Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented the 2016-2017 budget calendar, reviewed facility rental policy GKA, said the Dallas County Schools transportation and technology contracts were up for review with a recommendation due in February, and with Ross Rivers of VLK Architects updated the controlled entries, Coder renovation, Elementary No. 5, technology and playground projects.
