Aledo ISD Board Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road

Five trustees honor former trustee Steve Bartley, adopt an operating procedures manual, approve the Elementary No. 5 earthwork price and a slate of purchases, and set the attendance-zone calendar

The iPads for instructional staff passed 4-0 with one abstention. The district endorsed an addition to the Parker County Appraisal District building and hired a middle school assistant principal.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met July 18, 2016, with five trustees present, opening with an executive session from 6:03 to 7:03 p.m. on safety and security and personnel. Gary Aguillard recognized former trustee Steve Bartley, and trustees praised his financial knowledge and advocacy for children. President Jay Stringer assigned board committees: Dr. David Tillman to Community Partners, Hoyt Harris and Forrest Collins to communication and events, Jennifer Loftin to the education foundation and Bobby J. Rigues to legislative. Rigues reported stirrings in Austin over budget cuts. There were no public comments. The consent agenda, approved 5-0, included 4-H resolutions.

Bob Templeton of Templeton Demographics presented the spring 2016 update, including a ten-year enrollment forecast, and Ross Rivers of VLK Architects reported the Coder project progressing and student devices due in October. Superintendent Derek Citty proposed a calendar: an Aug. 4 school finance workshop, Oct. 4 Team of Eight training, Oct. 24 attendance zones, town halls Nov. 7 and 10, and Dec. 5 attendance zones.

The board approved, each 5-0: the Board Operating Procedure Manual; Collins as TASA/TASB delegate with Stringer as alternate; moving the board calendar to August; a School Priority Month resolution; 2016-2017 meal prices; an agreement with Dr Pepper Snapple Group; technology HVAC upgrades; Aledo High School auditorium stage equipment and rigging; a resolution supporting construction of an addition to the Parker County Appraisal District's building, presented by Chief Appraiser Larry Hammonds; and the guaranteed maximum price for the phase 1 earthwork package for Elementary No. 5. The iPads for instructional staff passed 4-0 with Tillman abstaining. No endorsement was needed for the TASB board because Rigues was the only Region 11 candidate. The board approved Alyssa Seay as middle school assistant principal, 5-0, and adjourned at 10:14 p.m.
