The education foundation reports $636,000 given to the district as the board sets its calendar, adopts Policy Update 105 and signs a Crime Stoppers agreement

Every vote was 7-0. Elementary No. 5's groundbreaking was set for Sept. 7 with a time-lapse camera on the site, and parents answered the annual survey at 17.12%.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Aug. 15, 2016, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Derek Citty announced meet-the-teacher nights, the Sept. 7 groundbreaking for Elementary No. 5 with a construction camera viewable on the website, and a convocation address by iSchool Initiative founder Travis Allen. The board recognized two state solo and ensemble performers. Education foundation executive director Shawn Callaway reported more than half a million dollars raised to date and $636,000 given to the district so far this year, supporting PSAT testing for sophomores, wheelchair swings at each elementary, an employee crisis fund and teacher grants. Bobby J. Rigues reported Senate Education Committee hearings on board governance and school choice. The executive director of the East Parker County Library reported on the summer reading program in public comment.

The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included the supplies vendor list, the appraiser calendar and adult meal prices. Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney reported parent survey participation of 17.12% and teacher participation of 95%. The board approved, each 7-0: the 2016-2017 board calendar with the December meeting moved to Dec. 15 and a Sept. 19 special meeting added; the agreement to purchase attendance credit; Policy Update 105; policy CQ(Local); and a Parker County Crime Stoppers memorandum of understanding; and approved bids for special education professional services, 6-0, with Dr. David Tillman out of the room. No executive session was needed, and the meeting adjourned at 8:59 p.m.
