School board buys the Bearcat Stadium scoreboard, adopts the 2017 superintendent goals, furnishes Walsh Elementary and approves a technology package and an electricity contract

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 18, 2017, with all seven trustees present once David Davis and Dr. David Tillman arrived. In a work session, Superintendent Derek Citty said he would recommend a 2017 bond steering committee as the 2025 plan's milestones approached; Athletic Director Tim Buchanan answered questions on the scoreboard's warranty, training and revenue; and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld answered questions on the electricity contract. Aledo Middle School's journalism students presented, and the board recognized the UIL policy debate team. Citty reported FEMA training in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and Forrest Collins showed pictures of Mansfield ISD's agriculture science facility and Granbury ISD's CTE facility. Education foundation executive director Shawn Callaway reported the Bearcats and Boots gala netted $240,000 to date and $25,000 raised toward the June 9 golf tournament. Two residents spoke, on teacher salaries and a graduation.
The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included Harmony Science Academy and Trinity Basin Preparatory charter school considerations. Husfeld and Buford Thompson Construction updated Walsh Elementary; Husfeld projected a general operating fund balance of $14,485,133 at Aug. 31, 2017, 34.16% of the fund; and Executive Director of Curriculum Kathy Allen presented the Proclamation 2017 adoption process.
The board approved, each 7-0: the Bearcat Stadium scoreboard purchase; the 2017 superintendent goals; furniture, fixtures and equipment for Walsh Elementary; Technology Package 3 for student and faculty devices; and authority for the superintendent to negotiate and execute the district's electricity contract. After an executive session from 9:31 to 11:03 p.m. on the Elementary No. 6 location, it approved 2017-2018 professional contracts, 6-0, Davis having left at 10:30 p.m., and adjourned at 11:06 p.m.
