School board approves the attendance-credit purchase, raises the foreign exchange student cap to seven, and hears the Elementary No. 5 site search continues north and south

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Aug. 17, 2015, with Vice President David Davis presiding and six trustees present once Dr. David Tillman arrived. Boy Scout Troop 1099 led the pledge. Superintendent Derek Citty proposed an Aug. 24 budget meeting, reported more than 500 participants at Bearcat Nation 101, and introduced the new Aledo Middle School assistant principal. The board recognized band director Joey Paul for the Texas Music Educators Association Class 5A honor band championship and coach Chad Barry and the baseball team for qualifying for the state tournament. Hoyt Harris reported a $3,500 foundation donation for convocation. Five residents spoke, three on the foreign exchange cap, one on the tax rate and one on the budget and teacher salaries.
The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included the supplies vendor list and the appraiser list and calendar. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld compared area districts' 2014-2015 tax rates and the district's historical rate changes with their impact on homeowners, and Citty and Husfeld said the district was still looking at Elementary No. 5 locations on the north and south sides with a recommendation due in September or early October.
The board approved, each 6-0: the agreement to purchase attendance credits; the 2015-2016 board calendar, moving the superintendent conference and the board, district and superintendent goals from July to November; policy FNF(Local); the general waivers with the foreign exchange student limit raised to seven; and policy FFAC(Local). After an executive session on personnel and real property from 9:35 to 10:04 p.m. with no action, the meeting adjourned at 10:06 p.m.
