School board adopts the 2026-2027 calendar, accepts a clean audit, calls the May 2 trustee election and approves radio and computer upgrades
The auditor reported an unqualified opinion for the year ended Aug. 31, 2025. Every vote was 6-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Jan. 20, 2026, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott, Lynn Morgan and David Lear present. Collins welcomed the community into the spring semester and acknowledged the late Aledo City Councilmember Nelson Rowls. Superintendent Susan Bohn marked School Board Appreciation Month. Lear reported on the new state private school and homeschool voucher program passed in the 89th Legislative Session and how it may affect the district, and Tarrant updated the board on the Aledo Growth Committee.
Aledo High School and the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus presented on the Bearcats LEAD program. The board commended Walsh Elementary's first-grade team, the month's Bearcats of Character, the Aledo ISD Child Development Center's Texas Rising Star four-star certification from the Texas Workforce Commission, the football team as Class 5A Division I bronze medalists and its academic all-state honorees, and received an Aledo Education Foundation innovative teaching grant presentation. No one spoke during public comment, and the consent agenda passed 6-0.
The board approved, each 6-0: the 2026-2027 district instructional calendar, presented by Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill; wide area repeater system upgrades to improve district radio operability, presented by Chief of Police David Stevens; the purchase of staff computer upgrades, presented by Chief Technology Officer Brooks Moore; calling the May 2, 2026, Board of Trustees election; and the annual financial audit for the year ended Aug. 31, 2025, after Kent Willis of Patillo Brown & Hill reviewed the results and reported an unqualified opinion.
In communication items, Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared Cycle 2 professional learning community ratings, Social Studies Coordinator Cathy Williams gave a social studies update, and Moore discussed a potential student device purchase. The board met in executive session from 7:57 to 8:36 p.m. on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter, and adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
