School board casts its appraisal-district votes for Sterling Naron in Parker County and six candidates in Tarrant County
Vice President David Lear presided. The board heard a CTE update, the 2023 bond progress, and the draft legislative priorities built around local control and funding.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Nov. 18, 2024, with Vice President David Lear presiding and Trustees Hoyt Harris, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott and Jennifer Taylor present. Superintendent Susan Bohn celebrated the fall Circle of Greatness winners. Lear said the board will advocate for local control and increased funding in the 89th Legislative Session, and Tarrant updated the 2023 bond projects.
The Early Childhood Academy and Aledo Middle School presented. The board commended the month's Bearcats of Character, the boys cross country state qualifiers, the girls cross country state bronze medalists, and Walsh Elementary's third-grade team. One community member spoke during public comment. The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included class size waivers and vendor lists for Requests for Proposal 2410-14, 2410-15 and 2410-16.
On resolutions presented by Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld, the board voted 6-0 to cast all of the district's votes for Sterling Naron for the Parker County Appraisal District board of directors, and 6-0 to cast one vote each for Alan Blaylock, Wendy Burgess, Fred Campos, Daryl Davis, Phyllis Grissom and Gloria Pena for the Tarrant Appraisal District board.
Career and Technical Education leaders gave the 2024-2025 CTE update; Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell updated the bond projects and previewed secure key boxes; and Bohn with subcommittee members Lear and Scott discussed the draft legislative priorities. After an executive session on the superintendent's performance update, the meeting adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
