The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Dec. 14, 2015, with all seven trustees present: President Jay Stringer, Vice President David Davis, Secretary Steve Bartley, Bobby J. Rigues, Hoyt Harris, Jennifer Loftin and Dr. David Tillman. The Coder Elementary choir sang. Superintendent Derek Citty reported that athletes were the only students then being drug tested, that adding tobacco to the test would cost $20 per test, and that a district plan would come in February; he also gave the trustees a spring 2016 election timeline for Places 4 and 5, held by Bartley and Rigues. The board recognized a Vandagriff student's national Veterans Day poster win, and PTO president Jennifer Taylor presented $75,000 for the campuses and reported 12,000 food items gathered with the Community Partners. Education foundation executive director Shawn Callaway and president Tricia Haber presented $159,325.78 for teacher grants, and Rigues was recognized for his election to the Texas Association of School Boards' board. Stringer read the annual board training report into the record, with every trustee meeting the required hours. Harris reported the Bearcats and Boots gala set for April 1, 2016, with three-fourths of sponsorships filled. A resident spoke about the Elementary No. 5 location.
Pavlik and Associates presented a communications audit and plan; Executive Director of Professional Development and Accountability Denise Dugger presented the Texas Academic Performance Report; Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney reported the final evaluation of the 2014-2015 strategic plan and a 12th consecutive year of 100% highly qualified status; and Citty summarized his 2014-2015 goals.
The board tabled the 2015-2016 superintendent goals until January, approved Siemens Industry, Inc. for fire alarm inspection and maintenance, and approved Buford Thompson Company, LLC's bid of $1,693,300 for the Coder Elementary School controlled entry addition and renovation project, each 7-0. After an executive session from 9:15 to 11:05 p.m. on real property and personnel with no action, the meeting adjourned.
