The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met June 18, 2018, with all seven trustees present. President Hoyt Harris presented former trustees Dr. David Tillman and Jay Stringer with recognition for their service, honored the girls golf team and band and choir state solo and ensemble medalists, and welcomed Dr. Susan K. Bohn as the district's new superintendent. Bohn announced the spring Terry and Helen Hyles attendance award winners. Harris reassigned board liaison roles: Loftin to lead a new board operating procedures manual committee, Turner as education foundation liaison, and Bobby J. Rigues and Forrest Collins continuing on legislative reports. Rigues reported on Governor Abbott's school and firearms safety action plan, and Bohn said she would attend a Parker County safety summit that week. There were no public comments.
The board approved, each 7-0: a resolution and interlocal agreement to join the Educational Purchasing Cooperative of North Texas, and an updated interlocal agreement with the Region 8 Education Service Center for The Interlocal Purchasing System cooperative. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld gave a budget update, with workshops set for late July and early August.
After an executive session from 8:03 to 9:54 p.m. that included board member and superintendent duties, the board approved Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney's recommendation to hire Kerry Cooper as assistant principal at Walsh Elementary, April Riley as assistant principal at McCall Elementary and Dennis Hearn as assistant principal at Aledo Middle School, 7-0. The meeting adjourned at 9:57 p.m.
