Twenty-three residents address the board as the 2023 bond projects close and Policy Update 124 is adopted

Uninterrupted power supplies were approved 5-0. Staff previewed three curriculum purchases and a TASB pay study, and Lear reviewed House Bill 2, Senate Bill 2 and House Bill 6 at the Capitol.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 21, 2025, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott and David Lear present. Collins reported that all trustees had exceeded their required continuing education credits. Superintendent Susan Bohn said registration for 2025-2026 was open, previewed the Committed to the Cats event, noted that early voting was starting, and said the first Aledo Leads Cohort had completed its workshops and the program would return. Lear reviewed the district's priorities in the legislative session and bills under consideration including House Bill 2, Senate Bill 2 and House Bill 6. Tarrant and Aledo Growth Committee co-chair Kelli Stumbo gave the final update on the 2023 bond projects as they closed.

Walsh Elementary presented, and the board commended McCall Elementary's second-grade team, the month's Bearcats of Character, district art show winners, powerlifting state qualifiers, Business Professionals of America state qualifiers, an academic all-state basketball player, the 2024-2025 Teacher Leader Cohort, a new principal of Aledo Middle School and a new director of human resources. Twenty-three members of the community spoke during public comment on non-agenda items.

The consent agenda, approved 5-0, included a staff development minutes waiver and the instructional materials TEKS certification. The board approved, each 5-0, the purchase of uninterrupted power supplies presented by Chief Technology Officer Brooks Moore, and Board Policy Update 124, covering financial ethics, investments, intellectual property, employee standards of conduct, special programs, gifted and talented students, child abuse and neglect, and conduct on school premises.

Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared Cycle 3 professional learning community ratings and an instructional rounds update; Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill discussed purchases of Really Great Reading products, NWEA's MAP Growth and IXL Learning; and, after a recess from 8:40 to 8:50 p.m., Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld introduced a Texas Association of School Boards human resources representative who presented the 2024-2025 pay systems review. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter was posted.
