School board adopts the 2017-2018 campus improvement plans, the P.S. It's My Body program and a superintendent evaluation schedule as bond town halls continue
Every vote was 7-0. Gary Aguillard was nominated to the appraisal district board, and a two-hour closed session covered the elementary and middle school sites.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Oct. 16, 2017, with all seven trustees present once Vice President Hoyt Harris arrived at 6:11 p.m. In a work session, Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney presented the campus improvement plans, Superintendent Derek Citty discussed appraisal district nominations, President Jay Stringer set the superintendent evaluation for a Jan. 16, 2018, special meeting, and Bobby J. Rigues explained TASB's Culture of Voting resolution. Aledo Middle School's robotics and aerospace students demonstrated a drone and a winning battlebot. Citty reported on his bond presentations and invited trustees to an Oct. 17 town hall at McAnally Intermediate, and reviewed his 2017 goals. The board commended a National Merit semifinalist and two band honorees. Jennifer Loftin reported $4,000 in October fast cash grants and 72 innovative teaching grant applications; Rigues reported on House Bill 1566 training and Hurricane Harvey's effect on districts. There were no public comments.
Forrest Collins pulled the School Health Advisory Council's P.S. It's My Body program from the consent agenda for discussion of how to engage parents; the rest of the consent agenda, including a choir trip to Florida, passed 7-0, and the program was then approved 7-0. Sarah Gallaher presented the education foundation's 2016-2017 annual report.
The board approved, each 7-0: the 2017-2018 campus improvement plans; the nomination of Gary Aguillard to the Parker County Appraisal District board, with no motion for Tarrant's; and the superintendent evaluation instrument procedure and schedule, with evaluations due Jan. 9. After an executive session from 8:18 to 10:14 p.m. on the locations of Elementary No. 6 and Middle School No. 2, with no action, trustees asked for follow-up lists on items raised at meetings and for the strategic plan, mission and vision, District of Innovation and diversity plan to come back, and the meeting adjourned at 10:32 p.m.
