Aledo ISD Board Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road

School board approves the McAnally traffic loop, a Bell Helicopter partnership through Weatherford, Policy Update 99 and the E-Rate resolution, and postpones staff computers over one dissent

The Series 2014 refunding bonds sold April 1. Mary Smith was named CTE coordinator, and a resident spoke about Fort Worth's Morningstar hearing.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 21, 2014, with six trustees present. The Daniel Ninth Grade principal presented Capturing Kids' Hearts. Superintendent Derek Citty updated the 2025 Committee, and Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney introduced the new human resources director. The board commended 115 state band students, state debate and cosmetology students, and a coach's Henderson State award. A resident spoke about the Fort Worth City Council's coming discussion of the Morningstar development. The consent agenda passed 6-0.

Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Buford Thompson reported on the high school vestibule and Learning Center additions; Executive Director of Curriculum Kathy Allen reported House Bill 5 graduation changes; Denise Dugger and McKinney explained the community and student engagement self-evaluation; Dugger presented the federal report card; and Husfeld reported the Series 2014 refunding bonds sold April 1 to refund part of the Series 2005-A bonds at a lower rate.

The board approved, each 6-0: the procurement method and project update for the McAnally Intermediate traffic loop; Policy Update 99; June 6 as take-your-sons-and-daughters-to-work day; policy EIF(Local); a Weatherford and Bell Helicopter memorandum of understanding; the Athlos Foundation School and New Horizon International Leadership Academy items as presented; and the 2014-2015 E-Rate resolution; and changes to policy FDA(Local), 5-0 with Dr. David Tillman out of the room. A motion to postpone replacing staff computers passed 5-1 with Bobby J. Rigues against. After an executive session from 9:08 to 9:41 p.m., it approved teacher and professional contracts and Mary Smith as career and technical education coordinator, each 6-0, and adjourned at 9:44 p.m.
