The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 19, 2021, with all seven trustees present. President Hoyt Harris announced that all trustees had completed their required continuing education. Superintendent Susan Bohn acknowledged the racial harassment incident that occurred in the district and the initial steps the district would take. Forrest Collins reported on the legislative subcommittee's trip to the Capitol, and Jessica Brown updated the 2019 bond projects. Members of the public spoke on various subjects, and after a recess Executive Director of Student Health Services Scott Kessel updated COVID-19 case numbers and quarantine protocols.
The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included the instructional materials TEKS certification. The board approved, each 7-0: furniture, fine arts equipment and furniture for Aledo Middle School; library and media center materials for Annetta Elementary; a commissioning agent and a test-and-balance contractor for the McAnally Middle School and Aledo Middle School projects; and 2021-2022 staffing adjustments.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and instructional specialists reported progress on professional learning community goals; Director of Facilities and Construction Tyler Boswell updated the Annetta Elementary, McAnally, Aledo Middle, Vandagriff and Early Childhood Academy projects; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Executive Director of Human Resources Sherry Taylor reviewed the 2021 TASB pay systems report; and Husfeld discussed a drainage easement requested for the Parks of Aledo development. After an executive session that included a student matter, the board voted 7-0 at 11:38 p.m. to propose the nonrenewal of a classroom teacher's term contract on the superintendent's recommendation.
