School board opens the year with an A rating from the state, new leaders, and a first look at an architect for future high school space
Six people spoke during public comment on non-agenda items. The board approved technology renewals, a workers' compensation addendum and authority to negotiate an electricity contract, all 5-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Aug. 18, 2025, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Jeremy Pruett, Scott, Lynn Morgan and David Lear present. Collins welcomed students, staff and the community to the 2025-2026 school year and celebrated the district's recently announced A accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency. Superintendent Susan Bohn recognized the Circle of Greatness winners from 2024-2025 and described 18+ program students helping the stadium manager prepare for football and the CTE department recording practices with drones.
Lear reported on the implications of the 89th Legislative Session for districts and noted a special session under way, and summarized the Aledo Growth Committee's charge for the year, visioning future high school space; applications to serve on the committee were open through Aug. 20, 2025. The board commended the new members of the district's leadership team, including a chief facilities and construction officer, a director of transportation and six assistant principals.
Six people addressed the board on non-agenda items. The consent agenda, approved 5-0, included off-campus PE locations, a resolution establishing non-business days under the Public Information Act, the professional development plan, the appraiser list and calendar, 4-H extracurricular resolutions for Tarrant and Parker counties, interlocal agreements with Parker County for dispatch and jail services, a resolution establishing a local school library advisory council, vendor lists, the Parker County juvenile justice alternative education program agreement, and the agreement to purchase attendance credit under the state's recapture provisions, which delegates authority to the superintendent under Texas Education Code Section 11.1511(c)(4) for that purpose.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey reviewed the 2025-2026 district instructional focus, and Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Caleb Bell discussed a potential agreement with Huckabee Architects for conceptual design of future additional high school facilities, a communication item that returned for a vote in September. The board approved 5-0 the purchase of technology annual license and warranty renewals, an addendum to the interlocal agreement with the Public Workers' Compensation Program, and authorization for the superintendent to negotiate and execute an electricity contract.
The board met in executive session from 7:06 p.m. on the superintendent's performance update and contract, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter, and adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
